Today I wanted to make a portrait inspired by the beauty of poetry!

Beauty can inspire artists to make the most beautiful works of art, there's a reason why the expression of " beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" is often used to describe that, it fits perfect, because you need a particular sensitivity of an artist to find beauty in the most random places and things.

One poet that comes to mind is Baudelaire, in the flower of evil, we can see that he was inspired to write beautiful poetry inspired by darkness and creepy themes, I can relate to that, and I find that very insteresting and so real.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, taken literally, is what I wanted to capture in this artwork.
It happens to me sometimes that I find beauty in some things that most people find disturbing, weird or unsettling, and that's because I trained my brain to think outside the box, I guess that I choose to be inspired in way but it comes naturally, to find beauty in the "ugly" it's an acquired taste in a way.

In music for example, I listen to the most experimental stuff that many people would call it noise, and that's because I find beauty in chaos. I guess that also has to do with my personality, but it's also a mindset .

In art I think that is important to be less critical/negative and instead be more open minded and positive, so you can be inspired to create original and also to find your own voice, to find your own style, because at the end of the day an artist's soul is in his work, and what moves you is a reflection of what you really are deep inside.

That concept is what I wanted to express in this surreal portrait.

Process

First of all I took a reference from a photo portrait and I made the sketch.

As always I love the app Autodesk sketchbook,my favorite app but lately I also have been using Paint from windows for sketching.

After that I put the sketch on the app and made a more soulful lines.
The character was starting to get some cool facial expressions, like more feeling so I kept that mood of the drawing.

Beauty is represented by roses, a symbol of passion.

Lately I have been inspired by Gustav Klimt's work, that's why I like to make the lines exagerated, a style that makes it looks more expressive I think.

First I made one and when I saw that it worked I added another ond on the other eye.

I also made some tears to express that to be inspired can also bring you to tears. Because some things are so beautiful that moves you to tears.
That's like the extreme emotion, you get so inspired that it hurts.

This time I made the haircut that was popular in the 90's because I feel like that style it's getting a come back nowadays.

Finally I put the result on the pixlr app , for the amazing filters and I was finally done with this work.

I like this result because it has a dreamy vibe

And also this one because it has a comic book aesthetic

That's all for today, thank you for your visit to my art blog and until next time with more surrealism!
