I hope everyone is well, this time I want to share with the community my participation in the art contest for @splinterlands. As a reference character I chose Flame Monkey, I had made this charismatic character some time ago and I thought it was a good opportunity to see how far I have progressed in this digital art. No doubt I'm very happy with the result, I hope you like this version! Let's start...

Espero que todos se encuentren bien, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con la comunidad mi participación al concurso de arte para @splinterlands. Como personaje de referencia elegí a Flame Monkey, este carismático personaje lo había realizado hace algún tiempo y me pareció una buena ocasión para ver que tanto he avanzado en esto del arte digital. Sin dudas estoy muy contento con el resultado obtenido, ¡Espero les guste esta versión! Comencemos..

Creative Process | Proceso Creativo💡

Carrying out the sketch for this illustration was a challenge because I wanted to make both the character and a background according to this. With the help of some references I finally got inspired and began to develop the idea I had in mind, with the help of a large brush and many lines I was able to complete my composition, I was cleaning it up a little more until I finally went to draw the clean lineart of the illustration.

Llevar a cabo el boceto para esta ilustración fue todo un reto ya que quería realizar tanto al personaje como un fondo acorde con este. Con ayuda de algunas referencias finalmente pude inspirarme y comencé a desarrollar la idea que tenia en mente, con ayuda de un pincel grande y muchas líneas pude completar mi composición, este lo fui limpiando un poco mas hasta que finalmente pase a trazar el lineart limpio de la ilustración.

I applied a gradient on the whole image and on top I started to place the base colors of the character. For the background elements I decided to work with a grayscale.

Aplique un degradado en toda la imagen y por encima comencé a colocar los colores base del personaje. Para los elementos del fondo decidí trabajar con una escala de grises.

Then I went to work on the lights and shadows, first I did it on the character, starting with his shadows and once I was happy I added the lighting which would be mainly given by the fire on the character's hand. Then I was placing the shadows and lights on the background elements in a different layer.

Después pase a trabajar en las luces y sombras, primero lo hice en el personaje, comenzando con sus sombras y una vez estuve contento fui agregando la iluminación la cual seria principalmente dada por el fuego en la mano del personaje. Luego fui colocando las sombras y luces en los elementos del fondo en una capa diferente.

With the character almost finished I started to work on the color of the background, this was one of the steps that took me the longest time since I wasn't sure of the tone I would use, but following the chromatic wheel I chose to use a complementary color so that the character would be the protagonist. Then I applied a light to enhance the composition.

Con el personaje casi terminado pase a trabajar en el color que tendría el fondo, este fue unos de los pasos que mas me demoro tiempo ya que no estaba seguro del tono que usaría, pero siguiendo la rueda cromática opte por usar un color complementario para que el personaje fuera el protagonista. Luego aplique una luz para potenciar la composición.

Finally add some final details like reflections and some color filters to correct some tones of the illustration.
