Sketchbook Time: Thinking about oranges 🧡

in Alien Art Hive6 days ago

Hello, dear Hivers! ;)
In recent days, i've had a little trouble drawing fluidly... But here i am again, this time with a very orange drawing.

Previously, my inspiration was red, but now it's the turn of this super vibrant color, which i admit was never my favorite, but i think i've been eyeing it for a while now, as i've wanted to explore new colors and new combinations that take me a little out of my comfort zone and, at the same time, are somehow therapeutic for me. because when we try new things, learn new techniques, and so on, it certainly encourages and boosts our creativity and even changes our mood when we're not feeling very well. And coincidentally, orange is the color of the second chakra called svadhisthana or sacral, which represents creative energy, sexuality, and creativity 🧡

Orange 🧡/ Sketching

This time, since i didn't have any specific ideas and only had a huge orange flag in my head, i decided to paint the entire background with an alcohol marker and then use a pencil to sketch the basic lines of my strange, psychedelic girl. Then, with a drawing pen, i went over all the lines to get a better view of the whole drawing and thus begin to perfect every detail and add the rest of the elements that came to mind along the way. Nothing was written in my mind; i just let myself go. That's what this sketchbook is for, to draw freely.

Drawing Pen | Inking

Although i didn't have a clear plan of what i wanted to do, i was sure about the color scheme. Starting with the main color, orange, when i was exploring color palettes and photographs, i noticed that there are certain combinations that, although they tend to be a little strong on the eye, i love the harmony and contrast they create. One of those palettes was orange with blues, greens, and violets. I was really fascinated by it, so i wanted a drawing like that.

At least that part was certain, but i had to continue with the first lines of my drawing. Little by little, it took on a somewhat strange shape, but i was liking it. I wanted it to be a simple drawing, or at least that's how i felt, despite all those lines and details that seem somewhat complex. It reminded me of a somewhat psychedelic hippie girl, so i added some flowers to decorate her hair. For this step, i only used my calibrated drawing pens; i think i used about three different tips.

Coloring Pencils

Once i had finished inking my entire base, it was time to add color. I chose three colors for the skin, two types of green, and another blue. Then, little by little, i checked to see what other details i could add. For the eyes, i used two shades of pink, and for the background and the rest of the lines to highlight the drawing, i used light blue, green, and magenta acrylic markers, although it looks like lilac. The magic is that, because of this orange background, it makes the other colors look a different shade. For example, the blue and green lines in the background look like neon tones, but they are actually pastel tones. However, thanks to the orange, it gives it that particularity, and that's what i liked about these mixtures using such a vibrant and warm color. I admit that when i added the blue dots to her hair, it looked a little strange to me, because i'm very sensitive to vibrant and neon colors and i usually can't look at them for very long, but it was kind of funny, so I liked it. It was a somewhat different drawing.

The End of this Road

And that's how this orange, psychedelic hippie girl ended up on a rainy night. Yes, it's been raining lately, so the moments with my crazy-eyed girl have become relaxing ;) See you later!!! Have a nice day/night!!!
