Iridescent clouds are unusual phenomena caused by the diffraction of light through water droplets, they are considered rare, ephemeral, and that makes them so special, to see how the colors bathe the outer layer of the clouds creating that striking appearance certainly must be a spectacle.
As soon as I heard about something like this, I set out to capture this idea that although simple, I considered it heavy enough in my head to want to release it.
It was a catalytic work that I really appreciated doing as it was a short break from university work.
🪐 The Process 🪐
The outlining was quick, it didn't need a previous sketch and sooner than later everything took the desired shape. A red lineart would be specially used for this.
For the face I used a much more exaggerated lip proportion than usual, in fact, it is very rare when I draw such full lips or beyond the figure of the cleft between them.
Curiously thick eyebrows I loved to do and a broad, gently flattened nose.
Her body and hands appear fragile because of how thin they are but they hold firm to the planet she must protect, on her wrists, arms, neck and nose she wears earrings as ornaments that draw attention to her attractiveness in addition to a pair of earrings in each ear and their respective earrings.
My first idea was to paint her brunette, however the idea of painting her with a golden tone did not leave my mind and risking that I would end up hating the result, I started painting with this color.
In addition to yellow I implemented shading and tinting with brown and orange, otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if onlookers would ask if she was suffering from malaria.
The brown color of her lips was so striking, I was really enjoying how everything was complementing each other.
I put aside the face for a moment and moved on to the hair, on which with an inkless pen I began to give texture before applying color.
I wanted to use a pastel blue that could symbolize the sky, I illuminated it with yellow on one side as a sunny day and shaded it with gray on the opposite side as a cloudy day.
Even unfinished, the expression in her gaze felt like she could really watch you, I don't think she's thinking anything good about you.
I finished her eyebrows in a gradient from brown to blue. She may have been human at one time, but her essence now was nothing but divine....
Moving on to coloring the eyes, I decided not to make the mistake of shading with black and used the same red color I used for the lineart.
I did a clear pupil for a change as well.
With the face finished I continued to shade the shoulders as well as the rest of the body before coloring the skin with gold.
I could assure that I already had life, it only remained to finish those details that make life more fortuitous and would enhance it more.
I took the blue color and began to outline the mandala I had drawn on her cheek, also the small drop drawn on the other.
Also color her earrings bright red.
Continuing with the jewelry, the bracelets and necklaces soon glowed gold.
The planet was colored with a superimposition of lines which together give the sensation of movement and a striking finish.
I wanted to draw wings, but I didn't want them to be wings like those of angels or fairies, so I made in a simple way this pattern that reminded me a lot of Mexican alebrijes and that I colored vividly with a mixture of colors.
Above her head I would place the cloud that initially inspired me to draw this, it would be supposed to be a kind of halo or crown, depending on the approach of each one, because although she seems to have some characteristics of an angel, she is not.
This aureole would be colored in pastel colors trying to be as similar as possible to the original.
A background would be the last thing to be done, that along with the details of course.
With blue and green watercolors I began to fill all the remaining space, with constant brush strokes giving touches that formed this cloud-like texture.
Some details with white paint were also necessary.
After a few more details such as stars, glitter, and textures with color I saw my vision finished.

Las nubes iridiscentes son fenómenos poco usuales provocados por la difracción de la luz a través de las gotas de agua, se consideran raros, efímeros, y eso los hace tan especiales, ver como los colores bañan la capa exterior de las nubes creando esa llamativa apariencia sin duda debe ser un espectáculo.
Apenas saber de algo como esto, me dispuse a plasmar esta idea que aunque simple, la consideraba lo suficientemente pesada en mi cabeza como para querer liberarla.
Fue un trabajo catalizador que aprecie mucho realizar ya que fue un breve descanso de las tareas de la universidad.
🪐 El Proceso 🪐
El delineado fue rápido, no necesitó de un boceto previo y más pronto que tarde todo tomó la forma deseada. Un delineado con tinta roja sería especialmente usado para esto.
Para el rostro usé una proporción de labios mucho más exagerada de lo usual, de hecho, es muy raro cuando dibujo labios tan carnosos o más allá de la figura de la hendidura entre estos.
Unas cejas curiosamente gruesas que amé hacer y una nariz ancha y suavemente aplanada.
Su cuerpo y manos aparentan fragilidad por lo delgados que son pero se sostienen firmes al planeta que debe de proteger, en sus muñecas, brazos, cuello y nariz lleva aros como adornos que llamen la atención a su atractivo además de un par de aros en cada oreja y sus respectivos aretes.
Mi primera idea fue pintarla morena, sin embargo la idea de pintarla de un tono dorado no salía de mi mente y arriesgándome a que terminara odiando el resultado, comencé a pintar con este color.
Además de amarillo implementé el sombreado y matizado con marrón y naranja, de lo contrario no me extrañaría que los curiosos preguntaran al verla si estaba padeciendo un cuadro de malaria.
El color marrón de sus labios se me hacía tan llamativo, la verdad estaba quedando encantado con como todo iba complementándose.
Dejé de lado un momento el rostro y pasé al cabello, en el cual con un bolígrafo sin tinta comencé a dar textura antes de aplicar color.
Quise usar un azul pastel que pudiera simbolizar el cielo, el mismo lo iluminé con amarillo en un costado cual día soleado y lo sombree con gris en el lado contrario como un día nublado.
Incluso aún sin estar terminada, la expresión de su mirada se sentía como si realmente pudiera observarte, no creo que esté pensando nada bueno acerca de ti.
Terminé sus cejas en una gradiente que pasaba del café al azul. Quizás fue humana en algún momento, pero su esencia ahora no era más que divina…
Pasando a colorear los ojos me decidí que no cometería el error de sombrear con negro y usé el mismo color rojo con que delineaba.
Hice una pupila clara para variar también.
Con el rostro terminado proseguí a sombrear hombros así como el resto del cuerpo antes de colorear con el dorado su piel.
Podía asegurar que ya tenía vida, solo quedaba terminar aquellos detalles que hacen la vida más fortuita y la realzarían más.
Tomé el color azul y comencé a delinear la mándala que había dibujado en su mejilla, también la pequeña gota dibujada en la otra.
También coloree de un brillante rojo sus aretes.
Continuando con la joyería, los brazaletes y collares pronto brillaron de color dorado.
El planeta fue coloreado con una superposición de líneas la cuales en conjunto dan la sensación de movimiento y un acabado llamativo.
Quise dibujarle alas, pero no quería que fueran alas como las de los ángeles o las de las hadas, por lo que hice de manera sencilla este patrón que recordaba mucho a los alebrijes mexicanos y que coloree vivamente con una mezcla de colores.
Sobre su cabeza colocaría la nube que en un principio inspiró a dibujar esto, supondría ser una especie de aureola o corona, dependiendo el enfoque de cada quien, ya que aunque ella parezca tener algunas características de ángel, no lo es.
Esta aureola estaría coloreada de colores pasteles intentando asimilarse lo más posible a la original.
Un fondo sería lo último en realizarse, eso junto a los detalles por supuesto.
Con acuarelas azul y verde comencé a llenar todo el espacio restante, con pinceladas constante dando toques que formaban esta textura similar a las nubes.
También fueron necesarios algunos detalles con pintura blanca.
Tras unos pocos detalles más como estrellas, brillos, y texturas con color vi finalizada mi visión.
