Today I want you to read this very brief reflection accompanied by the process of this drawing.

Inspiration came, as usual, at night.
I took the idea in the air and quickly captured it in a rough sketch that didn't promise much, I just didn't want to forget it. Although I had already made up my mind that I wouldn't do anything with it.
One afternoon and with the boredom and tedium of continuing the university tasks, I took a sheet of paper and a pencil, and began to shape it slowly until I got a more or less pleasant result.
I used unusual proportions for me, they were rough, elongated and very little of my style, but I was trying to do something different than just round and short faces. I outlined with black gel pen and played with the textures resulting from the overlapping of the lines to make shadows.
It was a very entertaining process indeed.
The sketch still needed a lot of fixing and clearly I would have to move it to another sheet, but I would leave that for later, it was already very late and I had to sleep.
Months passed before I touched the sketch again, but now with classes almost upon me again, I decided to continue it.
Is there any special meaning?
Originally no, I liked the aesthetics and that was it, I'm not someone who smokes but I have friends and family who do and although I don't understand it, I know they enjoy that act in one way or another.
After having traced the drawing, fixing certain aspects such as the fingers and the ear I proceeded quickly to outline it. *I don't have photos of the tracing because the lines were barely visible.
I started with the hairlines which I made with a texture similar to smoke or rather Upside down , it was as if by smoking all the problems in his mind dissipated like smoke.
Once the hair was done, I set aside the gray marker and began to outline with the black pen, starting with the eyebrows, detailing as much as possible the messy hairs that made them up.
I continued with the rest of the facial features, going through the hand and so on before I could start applying the color, I wanted to start trying a different shade than usual, I don't usually draw dark skinned people much, so I wanted to do something similar to what artists did in terms of shading.
I could try shading with some pastel color or with purple for a change, I chose the second option.
Although at the beginning it did not look too good, I was hoping that it would look better in the end.
I also took the opportunity to illuminate with a cream and yellow color.
After this step I proceeded to color the rest of the face, still not sure what I was doing, I chose to color the eyes, leaving a strong light.
Then I proceeded with the nose, originally the nose I had drawn was small and upturned, when I drew it I made it bigger, blushing it also to draw attention, this is a practice that I enjoy very much.
With the more detailed factors of the face finished, move on to coloring the rest of the skin, trying to leave its respective luminosity there as well.
Although I admit, by this time, I didn't know what I was doing...
While the lighting hadn't turned out the way I wanted it to, it didn't look bad, there was something about it that didn't suit me but I'd leave that for later.
I continued with the ear, which I also blushed a little before applying color.
Once finished, I continued with the neck, where I enjoyed adding more purple to continue with the shadows on the neck.
I have always found the neck muscles pleasant to draw, more so when they are well lit and shaded, I can say I did my best.
I even added some freckles like on the face.
Then I continued with the hand, which I shaded with the same method as before Does anyone else feel uncomfortable coloring their palms a light color? Because I do, I know it's unnatural but it's my drawing and in my world anything is possible.
I made the fingers a little red too.
Once the fingers were ready and the hand was ready, the next step was to color the nails, and what better color than black? Sober, elegant, striking.
During the process of painting the nails I changed my mind and wanted to cover the excess lighting and leave only the highlights on the cheeks, I thought these would be more than enough and it would stop looking so much like a half moon silhouette.
With this small detail solved, I could finish with the nails.
The sweater he wears is based on one I have so I was originally going to paint it gray, but with the "color" of his hair, I felt it would be too boring.
I decided that the color I would use would be light blue.
And I went on to complement it with the yellow as well, both made a combination in which they contrasted but at the same time complemented each other.
Or that's according to my point of view...
I detailed some parts of the sweater with lines.
And after that shade yellow with orange and blue with purple.
The last details to the figure were to add some thinner lines with graphite pencil on the hair and smoke.
Add stippling in some areas of the garment.
And pen lines in shadow areas, similar to those of the original sketch.
With all this done I could concentrate on the background.
I opted for a classic, watercolors and mandalas.
Although they would not be so classic, since their layout and design would not be the usual one, being more disorderly and not very neat.
Almost looking like a graffiti wall.
And with everything ready, I finished my work.

La inspiración vino, como de costumbre, de noche.
Tome la idea en el aire y rápidamente la plasme en un burdo boceto que no prometía mucho, solo no quería olvidarlo. Aunque ya me había hecho a la idea de que no haría nada con el.
Una tarde y con el aburrimiento y tedio de continuar las tareas de la universidad, tomé una hoja y un lápiz, y comencé a plasmarlo lentamente hasta conseguir un resultado más o menos agradable.
Use proporciones poco habituales para mi, eran toscas, alargadas y muy poco de mi estilo, pero intentaba hacer algo diferente que solo rostros redondos y cortos. Delineé con bolígrafo de gel negro y jugué haciendo sombras con las texturas que resultaban de la superposición de las líneas.
Fue un proceso muy entretenido sin duda.
El bosquejo aún necesitaba muchos arreglos y claramente tendría que pasarlo a otra hoja, pero dejaría eso para después, ya era muy tarde y tenía que dormir.
Pasaron meses antes de volver a tocar dicho bosquejo, pero ahora y con las clases nuevamente casi encima, me decidí a continuarlo.
¿Hay algún significado en especial?
Originalmente no, me gustaba la estética y eso era todo, no soy alguien que fume pero tengo amigos y familiares que lo hacen y aunque yo no lo entienda, sé que ellos disfrutan de ese acto de una forma u otra.
Tras haber calcado el dibujo, arreglando ciertos aspectos como los dedos y la oreja proseguí rápidamente a delinearlo. No tengo fotos del calcado pues las líneas apenas y eran visibles.
Comencé con las líneas del cabello que hice con una textura similar a la del humo o más bien viceversa, era como si al fumar todos los problemas que habían en su mente se disiparan como el humo.
Una vez con el cabello listo, deje a un lado el marcador gris y empecé a delinear con el bolígrafo negro, comenzando por las cejas, detallando lo más posible los desordenados vellos que las conformaban.
Continué con el resto de rasgos faciales, pasando por la mano y demás antes de poder empezar a aplicar el color, quise comenzar a probar un sombra diferente a la usual, no acostumbro dibujar mucho personas de piel oscura, por lo que quería hacer algo similar a lo que hacían artistas en cuanto a sombrear se refiere.
Podía intentar sombrear con algún color pastel o con morado para variar, elegí la segunda opción.
Aunque en principio no se veía también, tenía esperanza que al final se viera mejor.
También aproveche de iluminar con un color crema y amarillo.
Tras este paso proseguí a llenar de color el resto del rostro, aún sin estar muy seguro de lo que hacía, opté por colorear él ojos, dejándole una marcada luz.
Luego proseguí con la nariz, originalmente la nariz que había dibujado era pequeña y respingada, al de dibujarla la hice más grande, sonrojandola además para que llamara la atención, está es una práctica que disfruto mucho.
Con los factores más detallados del rostro terminados pase a colorear el resto de la piel, intentando dejar allí también su respectiva luminosidad.
Aunque admito, que para este momento ya no sabía lo que hacía…
Si bien la iluminación no había resultado como quería, no se veía mal, si había algo en ella que no me convencía pero dejaría eso para luego.
Seguía la oreja, la cual también sonroje un poco antes de aplicarle color.
Una vez terminada, proseguí con el cuello, donde disfruté agregando más morado para continuar con las sombras del mismo.
Los músculos del cuello siempre me han parecido agradables de dibujar, más cuando se iluminan y sombrean bien, yo puedo decir que hice mi mejor esfuerzo.
Incluso agregué algunas pecas como en el rostro.
Luego continué con la mano, la cual sombree con el mismo método anterior ¿Alguien más se siente incómodo coloreando las palmas de las manos de un color claro? Porque yo si, se que es antinatural pero es mi dibujo y en mi mundo todo es posible.
Los dedos los hice también algo sonrojados.
Una vez con los dedos listo y la mano también, seguía colorear las uñas y ¿Que color mejor para ello que el negro? Sobrio, elegante, llamativo.
Durante el proceso del pintado de uñas cambie de parecer y quise cubrir el exceso de iluminación y dejar solo los puntos de luz en las mejillas, creí que estos serían más que suficientes y dejaría de parecer tanto la silueta de una media luna.
Ya con este pequeño detalle resuelto pude terminar con las uñas.
El suéter que usa está basado en uno que yo tengo por lo que originalmente lo iba a pintar de color gris, pero con el “color” de su cabello, considere que sería muy aburrido.
Decidí que el color que usaría sería el celeste.
Y pasé a complementarlo con el amarillo también, ambos hacían una combinación en la que contrastaban pero al mismo tiempo se complementaban.
O eso según mi punto de vista…
Detallé algunas parte del suéter con líneas.
Y tras esto sombree el amarillo con naranja y el azul con morado.
Los últimos detalles a la figura fueron agregar unas líneas más delgadas con lápiz de grafito en el cabello y humo.
Agregar puntillismo en algunas zonas de la ropa.
Y líneas con bolígrafo en zonas de sombra, similares a las del boceto original.
Con todo esto hecho podía concentrarme en el fondo.
Opté por un clásico, acuarelas y mándalas.
Aunque no serían tan clásicas, ya que su disposición y trazado no sería el usual, siendo más desordenado y poco prolijo.
Casi pareciendo, la pared de un graffiti.
Y ya con todo listo, di por terminada mi obra.

Que risa la parte de mientras coloreabas el rostro que ya no sabias lo que estabas haciendo 🤣 yo estaba igual que tú, mientras dibujaba a mi negra rosácea y no se si te pasa que cuando les tomas fotos o lo escaneas, no se ve exactamente igual que en persona; al final eso fue lo que más me frustró.
