Actually, we know dwarves from the tales only as very rough, bitter and rude contemporaries, to whom one would never believe such a thing as the search for self-discovery. At least they would not do so of their own free will.
When his gnome uncle Rudi moved into a new house one day, Floop worked on the inner part of the house. Gnomes are known to live in toadstools.
So it was a tasty task for Rudi and Floop to hollow out the mushroom for move-in. In a few hours, both had eaten through the entire mushroom.
Filled up as they were afterwards, they first had to take a break and lay down in the grass in front of the hollowed out toadstool.
What Floop did not know and Rudi at first did not remember, toadstools have a very special effect on dwarves, as well as on humans. The mushrooms, which are called also Rabenbrot (germ.: raven bread), are known as magic mushrooms. But when Rudi then finally remembered and was just about to warn Floop about it, Floop already started his journey. An incredible trip of self-discovery. What he experienced, many of us humans can only guess.

Eigentlich kennt man Zwerge aus den Überlieferungen nur als sehr rauhe, verbitterte und rüppelhafte Zeitgenossen, denen man so etwas wie die Suche nach Selbsterkenntnis niemals zutrauen würde. Zumindest nicht freiwillig.
Als sein Gnome-Onkel Rudi eines Tages in ein neues Haus zog, arbeitete Floop am Innenausbau mit. Gnome leben bekanntlicherweise in Fliegenpilzen.
Es war also ein leckeres Unterfangen für Rudi und Floop, den Pilz für den Einzug auszuhöhlen. In wenigen Stunden hatten die beiden sich durch den kompletten Pilz gefressen.
Vollgefressen wie sie danach waren, mussten sie danach erst eine Pause machen und legten sich in die Wiese vor dem ausgehöhlten Fliegenpilz.
Was Floop nicht wusste und Rudi zunächst nicht einfiel, dass Fliegenpilze auf Zwerge, wie auch auf Menschen eine ganz besondere Wirkung haben. Gelten doch die Pilze, welche auch Rabenbrot genannt werden, als Zauberpilze. Doch als es Rudi schließlich einfiel und er Floop gerade davor warnen wollte, trat dieser auch schon seine Reise an. Eine unglaubliche Reise der Selbsterkenntnis. Was er dabei erlebte, können viele von uns Menschen nur erahnen.

I created the picture using various digital painting techniques and tools in GIMP.
A picture of a funny guy I found on Pixabay was my model. But in the end the more I painted on it, the more Floop looked like me. It seemed inevitable.
Ich habe das Bild mittels verschiedener digitaler Mal-Techniken und -Werkzeugen in GIMP erstellt.
Ein Bild eines lustigen Kerls, den ich auf Pixabay fand, stand für das Bild Modell. Aber letztendlich, je mehr ich daran herum malte, desto mehr sah Floop aus wie ich selbst. Es schien irgendwie unvermeidlich.
