Hello everyone! I hope you are having an excellent day. Today I want to share with you a new digital illustration I've been working on: a fanart of Lala Satalin Deviluke from To LOVE-Ru.

To be honest, this drawing gave me a hard time. I spent days postponing it because I got stuck during the shading and coloring phase, not quite knowing how to achieve that specific dynamic lighting and soft-cel blend I had in mind. But after taking a deep breath and confronting the canvas again, I managed to finish it with my head held high. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Here is a quick look at the step-by-step process:

Initial sketch and structure.

Clean lineart ready before colors.

Base colors and initial warm ambient lighting.

Adding the first layer of cel-shading shadows.

Refining volumes, blending edges, and lighting.

Final details on eyes, hair highlights, and line color.

This artwork was made in the Ibis Paint X application with a canvas size of 1536x2048.

Boceto inicial y estructura.

Lineart limpio listo antes de los colores.

Colores base y luz ambiental cálida inicial.

Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them. See you in the next post!

It is my pleasure!

Love To R-U is one of my all time favorite anime. Kirito is the man!

I like the drawings but I will argue, the eye style has a dark gradient to make it look like the style. On the anime they use a circular gradient to mimic the iris.

Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by and for the comment (although I think you meant Rito instead of Kirito, haha). You're absolutely right about the eyes! In this drawing, I wanted to make them a little more basic.

So beautiful and cute🩷🌸

From my perspective as a pencil artist, I highly value the energy this piece conveys. Although my comfort zone is paper, I recognize that you achieved a very attractive handling of light and color; the pastel palette and soft shading give a nearly ethereal texture to the skin and hair, which is difficult to match in traditional media. The clean lines and the expressiveness of the face immediately capture attention, demonstrating great mastery of stylized anatomy.

However, I appreciate digital art for its ability to polish details that sometimes escape us with graphite. The composition is dynamic, and the gradients in the pink hair and clothing are executed with precision, without losing the freshness of the stroke. In the end, even though my heart is with the pencil, works like this show that creativity does not depend on the tool, but on the artist's ability to connect with the viewer.

Well done!!!
