These space whales were something that I stole from an Uncanny X-Men arc in the 80's and used for a Star Wars Roleplaying Campaign in the 90's. Essentially there was an alien race much like the exomorphs from the Aliens(tm) movies but they were a significantly low-technology species.
However, they captured and enslaved these majestic space whales that roam free in space. These particular space whales have the ability to travel through hyperspace naturally. So the aliens (let's call them Brood, because that's what they were in the X-Men), used these Space Whales not only as living star ships, but also as a food source as they consumed them from the inside. So they live inside these space whales, eat the flesh of the space whales, and mount a bunch of gun turrets and other tech on the body of the space whales, complete with that bridge window in the nasal cavity.
Sad, I know. But the X-Men (and also my Star Wars RPG players) managed to free the space whales from the evil Brood.

Love this idea for alien trasportation, reminds me a bit of this guy:
Doctor Who featured a star whale that was also exploited. What would such creatures eat? I wondered that about the giant asteroid worm in Return of the Jedi.
!PIZZA
The asteroid worm called for pizza deliveries... then ate the spaceships that parked there.
I bet he never paid for them. You would think the delivery companies would blacklist him.
Good point. Actually, he would probably switch to Uber Eats after that which uses strictly freelance drivers driving their own vehicles. But he makes sure to pay for his meal. That way if the parent corporation gets their cut and the driver is never seen again, no one is the wiser. See, it's all basic ecology.
Not Pizza Planet then?
I thought whales are always very big but this looks small
Or is it a new born whale?
There's just nothing in frame for it to be referenced against. But that bit of reflective blue in the center of it's face is where the bridge crew stands. I probably could have put in a couple of A-wing interceptors to show the scale.
