Here are three unfortunate melted characters.
They got too close to the gold foundry and fell in.
Now they are stuck cooling off at the bottom of the crucible.
This little experiment all started when I discovered a cool old program called Sterling2. Its a really old fractal software that can render lots of different formulas in various color and style rendering formulas.
Took the gold fractal from Sterling2 and used it as a texture in 3ds max and vray.
I also rendered out a black version of the same model to layer in later in photoshop to bring in some shadows and make the gold shine a bit more.
Check out the ghostly looking z-depth pass.
Once I combined the 3d rendering layers I started overlaying some jwildfire fractal flames on top of the composition to add some cool highlights.
Here is the middle guy's eye overlay.
And the eyes for the guy to the left.
Finally the eyes for the guy on the right.
This one just adds a hint of color around the edges.
Here are the poor fellas inside 3ds max before rendering. Super basic lighting setup with edge lighting to catch the bump highlights of the fractal texture and some highlights off the skulls.
Thanks for looking :-)
nice 3d sketching sir
Thanks, introducing fractal textures into 3ds max opens up a whole world of possibilities.
They are very rich now.
The dark version looks like the Terminator.
They got so rich they invested in Mechdyne and invented the T-900.
:D
