But over a week has passed, and I didn’t want to waste time—I decided to continue with another drawing I had left unfinished. Today is the time to debut a new character with a redesign: Fungus Flinger.

Nueva semana y parece que fue ayer cuando me encontraba haciendo un fan art de River Nymph, pero ya ha pasado más de una semana y no quería perder el tiempo y continuar con otro dibujo que había dejado a medias, y hoy es el turno de estrenar personaje porque les traigo un rediseño, y le ha tocado en esta ocasión a Fungus Flinger.
Fungus Flinger is undeniably a mushroom, haha—you can tell at a glance! But if I were to imagine what real-life mushroom inspired it, I’d guess it resembles species like Mycena or Coprinus, fungi that grow on decomposing organic matter. These mushrooms are mostly found in swamps and have a distinctive odor. Our Fungus Flinger has the ability to launch stinky projectiles with precision at its enemies, blinding and toppling them. Additionally, it releases spores.
Fungus Flinger es sin dudas un hongo jajaja, lo podemos ver a simple vista, pero si me tocaría pensar en qué hongo de la vida real está inspirado, me atrevería a decir que en alguno de la especie Mycena o los Coprinos, hongos que crecen en materia orgánica en descomposición. Estos hongos se encuentran en su mayoría en pantanos y tienen un olor característico. Nuestro Fungus Flinger tiene la habilidad de lanzar fétidos proyectiles con precisión a sus enemigos, cegándolos y derribándolos. Además, libera esporas.
For my fan art, I wanted to reinterpret Fungus Flinger, but this time inspired by a different mushroom. Specifically, I chose Amanita Muscaria, known by many other names and with a very striking appearance. It’s the star of many fairy tale forests. Amanita Muscaria is characterized by its red color and white spots, along with its high toxicity. Without a doubt, the mushroom world is truly fascinating.
Para mi fan art quise hacer una reinterpretación de Fungus Flinger, pero en esta ocasión inspirada en otro hongo, para ser específicos, la Amanita Muscaria, que se le conoce por muchos otros nombres y tiene una apariencia muy llamativa, tanto que es protagonista en los bosques de muchos cuentos de hadas. Es un hongo que se caracteriza por su color rojo y puntos blancos, además de su alta toxicidad. Sin dudas, el mundo de los hongos es muy fascinante.
I began my fan art with a simple chibi base, mainly because I wanted to give the character a more magical and delicate appearance that matched the elegance of Amanita’s slender stem. At the same time, I aimed to preserve the original features that make Fungus Flinger recognizable. After sketching, it was time for the line art, base coloring, and adding shadows and highlights. As always, I’ll share an animation of the entire creative process.
Comencé mi fan art con una base de chibi simple, sobre todo porque quería darle un aspecto más mágico y delicado al personaje que se adecue más a la Amanita con su esbelto tallo, pero a la vez mantener las características originales que hacen reconocible a Fungus Flinger. Después del boceto fue el turno del line art, el coloreado base y algunas sombras y luces. Como siempre, les dejaré una animación de todo el proceso creativo.
