I've not read too much on the psychology of dreams. Jung and Freud could only guess at what they might mean and maybe what they came up with says something about them. I know some of mine that I remember are based on things that have been on my mind. The brain is such a complex thing. We can at least monitor some of the activity in there now, but it won't get all the details.
It was such a strange time just before the great war. Jung and Freud somehow reintroduced the old shamanic and sorceress idea of messaging from some spiritual plane, but they closed it inside a single person with no exchange to the outside world. Modern science indeed, but with methods from the bronze age. Kind of crazy when you think of it.
