Hello hello, happy Tuesday!
It's another art and life share and let's jump right into the 411. I have made some major changes in my lifestyle and I am hoping it won't affect the creative part. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been working from home under remote employment. At first, it was great, but last year it started to go downhill. For months, I wouldn’t hear from my employer, then they’d reach out, apologize, and we’d work for a month or two before the silence would return. While payment was monthly, I only got paid in the months I actually did work. I didn’t mind that too much, but I had to keep reaching out because there were certain promises made at the start of the contract that still haven’t been fulfilled. I kept holding on, hoping things would change, even though my messages often went unanswered.
I recently had the opportunity to get back into a more active practice. It’s been a bit of a process since I’m 10 years out of practice. It’s taken a physical toll on me, but I’m sure I’ll adjust to the early starts and late returns. The good part is that it’s not a 9-to-5; it’s more like a 9-to-3. I gave up on active practice without really trying it out. I have no plans to stay on this path but I want the work experience so I can truly say "being there, done that".
I feel like this year has been a wake up call for a lot of us to move out of comfort zones. Personally I want back into my comfy zone 24/7 but you've got to be mindful for the future, right?
