Windows shortcut keys - Tips & Tricks

in Computer Geeks2 years ago (edited)

Have you ever been typing something out on your computer only to have a case of 'too many fingers' resulting in key mis-strikes that messes up your text and shifts the cursor to another place on the document? We all have done this too many times. For some of us it means locating the 'undo' button in Word and/or using our mouse to highlight text to move it elsewhere, or worse still having to continually tap the backspace key to delete mistyped content to get back to where we were, then having to type it all out again. It's extremely frustrating. Well never fear, there is a much faster solution!

Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Thats right, it all comes in the form of Windows shortcut keys built right into Windows and your keyboard. NOW you can fix those pesky mistypes with a couple of keystrokes without losing your train of thought and move forward! Below is a list of the keys you can use individually or combined with other keys to fix those errors in a second. My favourite is the ctrl-z keys. What a relief it was when I discovered this trick many years ago. Somehow I would mistype and even completely delete content. Remembering even what I had just typed (let alone deleted) used to be a right royal pain in the ass. But now you can fix that by simply holding down the ctrl key (lower left of the keyboard) then tapping the 'z' key. Ctrl-A is another good combo. It allows you to select all content on a page without having to highlight the content and scroll with the mouse until every item is selected before tapping the 'delete' key.

So now you can get yourself out of trouble everytime and fast! Got that urgent email to send through? Be held up no more. Use these Windows shortcuts to get yourself out of trouble everytime and quickly and move onto the next task at hand.

You can also use some of the shortcuts to perform tasks such as minimising all of the open windows on your desktop. No more having to locate and minimise each window individually! Just hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and tap the letter 'm' and watch them all drop down into your taskbar instantly. You can also instantly restore all of those windows by holding down the windows key and pressing shift + M keys at the same time.

Have a play around with some of these shortcuts and have some fun as well as becoming more desktop savvy, and be sure to subscribe to our community to be alerted of future Windows tips and tricks!
