A beewolf

A beewolf 😊🐝 The beewolf (Philanthus triangulum) belongs to the digger wasp family Crabronidae in the insect order Hymenoptera (Hymenoptera). From around mid-June, the black-yellow insects can be observed, which can be recognized by their large head, the antennae that are thicker in the middle, the conspicuous digging bristles on the females and the whirring flight, similar to that of the hoverflies. The body length of the female beewolf, which is just over the size of a bee, is 13 to 18 millimeters, while that of the males is only 8 to 10 millimeters.
