That may be an awkward situation although also an opportunity to expand one's musical interest. I listen to some world music now and then, Italian and French artists mainly, no middle eastern though.
I'm lucky that our musical interests pretty much align, and she's so easily going as a person which helps, but there's a few that rub the other up the wrong way - not many.
In your case, an agreement works, it's best to keep the peace with the ladies, their retribution can be too much to accept. 🤔

In my case, discovering new rhythms, singers, melodies is an adventure, even though I don't understand the lyrics, everything else is enjoyable. At first, it was challenging, but it has been achieved; you could say it's been a rollercoaster ride (well, in this case, from the Middle East 😅)
With time, I believe the same relationship adjusts, and those little things get resolved on their own, well, at least in my experience (although I still have a lot to learn).
