I agree, there's comments to that effect in this post by me and others.

Schools don't really teach life lessons though, if they did they'd include some classes about financial matters, credit debt and all. The information is out there though, and I think the onus is on the individual to some degree; always relying on someone else is lazy in my opinion, but people are becoming less self-reliant these days, which is a problem. Also, what's a parents role if not to warn of potential risks and ways to avoid them?

hmmmm yes this really should be included in the curriculum. It should be a basic life education. Honestly, there should be classes in middle/high school that teach these basic life things like saving money, protecting our identity, etc. But as you said there are bad people in the world and the system was probably designed this way to have the world work as intended. Like we need people to be those garbage cleaners, mow lawns, house cleaning maids, plumbers and other dirty work sadly. I think in most cases if these people had the option they probably wouldn't choose to work these jobs I could be wrong though. There may be a small outlier of people that would actually love working these jobs.

As you said, parents should also play a role in teaching this. I'll definitely teach my future kid(s) all the important life lessons and mistakes I've made but in the end it'll be up to them to listen and take in what I say lol. There is a trend though that seems to be "i know mom I know dad I already know" - and I definitely fell under this category in the past; I won't try to pretend that wasn't me at a point of my life.

That's why I think it's better to have it taught in schools as well so it can reinforce how important it is. Sometimes a third party is needed to convince someone that hey this is actually important or worse case we learn through experiencing it which would not be ideal but would be super effective.

And a lot of the time people still won't listen preferring to do whatever it is they want to do, irrespective of the implications. That's pretty obvious to see.

haha well we've been there before no? well i can't speak on your behalf but I've definitely went down one of those rabbit holes.

IIn some cases it's good. For example there's those that prove others wrong. They get told their business idea is shit and they'll never make it and they end up generating over million dollar in revenue per year

I'm not saying that getting outside one's comfort zone or trying something different can't be a good thing...but getting back to the topic of this post...a 14 year old girl posting her vagina onto Twitter to get some likes or validation she doesn't feel she gets in real life may not be the best course of action, you know? It's important to know what to do and when to do it...and when not to.

Yea I was kinda a bit topic there spreading it to different things because it does happen a lot especially in asian families. I think it's slowly changing but there was definitely a time when being "successful" meant being a doctor, engineer etc and that's what they tell us we should be or do but maybe it's not the best for our life because it's not something we like or makes us happy.

As for your 14 year old girl doing that. ya this is something that shouldn't be happening but does happen and it's more than just a lack of education issue here or "knowing what to do and when to do it". I think deep down there is something mentally wrong with them maybe due to bullying etc which then causes her to do that. It's kind of hard to explain.

I was depressed before in the past and u cant just know you shouldn't be depressed. Sometimes it just happens and we can't really do the right thing cause we are just not in the right state of mind. Hopefully theres people around that are there and can support these people that clearly aren't thinking clearly. Unfortunately, I think what happens is as you said, they go show their vagina on twitter. For those that do it on purpose and are aware of what they are doing, i don't have much to say about that. That just makes me speechless and in a way disgusted.

I agree, my parents were the same, pushing university and being a doctor or lawyer...I went in a different direction though.

I think deep down there is something mentally wrong with them maybe due to bullying etc which then causes her to do that. It's kind of hard to explain.

Possibly, but I don't defer to bullying as the sole reason...there's others...and I think choice comes into it, greed also too. One look on Onlyfans to see a long list of young people whoring themselves for money will demonstrate the power of material things upon a person. It's not always about bullying.

There are many depressed people, military veterans with PTSD for instance...being depressed because one doesn't have the right brand of sneakers or the right iPhone...well, I think you can work out what I think of that for yourself.

It's not always about bullying.

Yes for sure and you missed out on my "etc". I was just mentioning one of many reasons that could cause someone to behave that way.

Onlyfans is questionable for those that are participating in the whoring themselves aspect but there are cases where people did it genuinely cause they needed the money and to support their family. Maybe in their situation it was a good choice and maybe an easy way out but you know desperate times call for desperate measures. We will do what we need to survive. As you mentioned though choice and greed do play a big role as well and the majority probably fall under here. What I mentioned is probably the smaller group of people those that are not in the right state of mind or mental disability.

Well i mean the more extreme cases where they are suicidal for more legitimate reasons than the ones you listed but i get what you trying to point at
