Quantity is a quality of its own. When you have too many pieces acting on their own, it becomes difficult to follow their trail. And so it happens that most of it are left in the background.

Leftover bread. No one cared to store it properly. So, ants discover it and start their systematic decimation and transport of the bread crumbs to their hole. When the morning comes, and the tiffin doesn't concern with the bread. So nobody bats an eye at the ant trail slowly devouring the bread. From the above, one cannot see the ant trail, for they maintain a proper thin line and nobody gets out of their line. And then, they only start plunging into bread from one small hole, leaving the outer shell undamaged.

Dinner time. When we have to see food on the dinner table and then you see a slithering trail leading to, and fro, the bread, you start making a choice. Should you throw it away? Or dust the ants and eat them?

Throw it away. All the ants that were in the vicinity of the bread, in the package, on the plate,... get uplifted from their current position on the dinner table. They are being taken away to the back of the house to throw in the shrubs that have been growing in the barren land, among the habitable houses, so that nature takes care of these ants and the desecrated bread.

What will happen to those ants that got separated from their clan? Will they find their trail to their underground home? Will they be food to other insects or chickens? When encountered by other ants, will they lay wasted or fight vainly? All of this is left for the DEEP BACKGROUND to decide.
