Octavius Spiro
Octavius Spiro was a first-generation new Linap. He was the owner and founder of the Spiro Company. When he was young, he was very adventurous. He enjoyed exploring Sapey and engaging in daring activities such as rock climbing, skiing, parasailing, and windsurfing.
Octavius was close friends with August Rezif. He agreed to be the first to try his genetic upgrade procedure. The procedure did not go entirely to plan. Octavius was given close to immortality, but he also transformed into a giant lizard-like creature. He was unhappy about this, but he was able to shapeshift into his original self, but this was a strain.
As Octavius grew so big, he gradually experienced a deterioration of health. Eventually, he was unable to shapeshift into an appropriately sized Sapien or Linap. Octavius, embarrassed by his size and appearance, lived a recluse life. August and Maskameera remained his only Linap friends, and he made several robots whom he treated like friends.
For a thousand years, Octavius successfully ran his company. He invented the RollerSphere and much of the technology used in the Cellrebrum Rehabilitation Centre. He was a key contributor to the development of the Jennifer AI software. Octavius also owned the luxury hotels and resorts in the Lake Region. He was extremely proud of the amusements he created as well as the delicious food, such as special pancakes and jumbo cannoli.
Octavius hid on his houseboat when the Sentray invaded the Lake Region. He returned once he was confident they had left. On returning, he built some basic robots and reconnected Jennifer, which led to the awakening of Polly. Jennifer received an upgrade from Polly, which cut Octavius off from Jennifer.
Octavius met Tiberius, who had been defrosted from his pod by Polly. Octavius thought he recognised him but was not sure. When he realised that the defrosted Linap could be Tiberius, he wanted to kill him. Jennifer turned his robots against him to stop him. Then he realised he no longer had any influence over Jennifer.
Octavius returned to his houseboat. Polly soon joined him to tell him of a change in plan, but his help was needed. He reluctantly accepted. He went out into the Great Ocean to retrieve a special seaweed that restored health from almost any illness. He was successful in doing so, but he also brought back a dozen Sentray whom he had become friendly with.
Polly and Octavius’ robots transported Tiberius and the seaweed to a nearby underground Linap patrol. Octavius went to the Central Agricultural Zone with his Sentray, as he was told to keep his distance for now.
Ofnisim
Ofnisim was one of Maskameera’s personas. Like Maskameeera, she was a journalist. She worked closely with the Economic Institute and the Business Sector to consistently stay on top of current agendas as well as manipulate certain key leaders.
She covered the attack on Adoy, which wiped out all of its residents. She portrayed the incident as an outcome of the contaminated water, which claimed to have caused the residents to go mad, killing each other and then eventually dying. This was one of the key false flag events of the story.
Orcilla/Orcille Carvaress
Born Orcilla Carvaress to Pardi and Milly Carvaress. Her father, Pardi, raised her after her mother died in labour. She was initially raised in almost secrecy, as Pardi desired her to be kept out of schools. During this time, she had a very close relationship with her father.
This changed when Pardi found out that Orcilla was half Sapien and not his daughter. His anger was directed at Orcilla’s late mother, Milly. However, Orcilla greatly reminded him of her, and this caused him much pain. Pardi decided that Orcilla should enrol in a school, but he wanted her to attend as a boy. Orcilla was deeply confused and hesitant. Eventually, she agreed to attend as a boy. She changed her name to Orcille.
After she graduated, she wanted to revert to living as a girl, but Pardi insisted that Orcilla continue to exist as a boy. Orcilla defied her father by attending the ball as herself. Pardi was enraged. He left the ball early to go to his laboratory. In the laboratory, he consumed chemicals, which altered his state of mind and perceptions.
Orcilla visited Pardi in his laboratory. She wanted to help him. Completely out of his mind, Pardi drugged Orcilla, causing her to fall unconscious. He went on to perform surgery in an attempt to change Orcilla into a boy permanently. In doing so, he severely mutilated her body. Orcilla was rushed to the medical centre, where they were able to save her life, but she, who had been transformed into a he, well, at least in physical appearance, was scarred for life.
Orcilla felt she could no longer exist as a girl. She fully embraced her Orcille persona. She went back to live with Pardi, but their relationship was different. Despite her anger towards Pardi for what he did to her, she remained loyal to him. He was still all she had.
Pardi sent Orcille to Tarrus University. He wanted to infiltrate regions where there was growing discontent. Adoy and the rise of the Inquisitives caught his attention. He sent her there to join the group and gain influence through her position in the Carvaress Company. It did not take Orcille long to win the trust of the leader and become second in charge. Orcille presented the Inquisitives’ position at the House of Divine Knowledge. He did so in such a manner that caused great chaos.
During the chaos, Pardi’s employees kidnapped two girls. Orcille’s job was to push the blame onto the Inquisitives. During his time in Adoy, Orcille became friends with some of the Inquisitives. This made it very difficult for him to betray them and remain loyal to his father. However, Orcille followed through with the plan. This led to their arrest as well as Orcille’s arrest.
Orcille was brutally attacked in prison and needed to be taken to hospital. Pardi was furious. He made sure the attacker, Arville, was taken to Cellrebrum to be secretly assessed and eventually failed so that he would be taken to the Capital Region.
Once recovered, Orcille returned to the Capital Region to be reunited with his father. Pardi welcomed him warmly. He gave him his own apartment to decorate as he pleased and a more important role in the Carvaress Company. Orcille finally felt appreciated by his father. This did not last long. Orcille found the experiments Pardi was conducting in his laboratory extremely cruel. He was also shocked by Pardi’s ambition to recreate the Linap species and the implications for Sapiens.
Orcille was also reunited with Arville. Pardi wanted Orcille to experiment on him. I thought Orcille’s hatred would bring her to experiment on him and, in a way, normalise his work to her. Instead, Orcille tried to help Arville die in the least painful way possible. Arville resisted, and Orcille was forced to leave him in the hands of the Carvaress technicians to experiment on.
Orcille decided to confront Pardi about his cruel practices. Pardi was annoyed by the confrontation. He decided he needed to cut ties with Orcille for good. Orcille was bringing back all the pain from his past.
Pardi invited Orcille to his office. There he revealed that the kidnapped girls had been killed and their bodies were the meat in the meal fed to the Inquisitives. Orcille was enraged and tried to attack, but his guards restrained him. Pardi then revealed that he had replaced Orcille with the twins.
Orcille was taken to an out-of-region facility to be secretly locked away for good. He wallowed in pain and self-pity for months. Eventually, he pulled himself together and managed to escape. Orcille was now on a mission to stop Pardi. He knew something drastic needed to be done. He decided to broadcast the screams of the baby Sentray to draw them into the Capital Region to destroy Pardi’s work. He also tried to help the twins escape, but he failed.
As planned, the Sentray attacked and destroyed the Capital Region. Orcille escaped to the Downs Region and then headed into the Central Agricultural Zone, where he was reunited with Denise and met Hamlet, Demarcus, and Darius.
Orcille tried to help Darius, who had been turned into a Sapiod-like creature, regain some of his mental capacity. Denise, who was eager to see results, overadministered the medication Orcille had given her. This caused Darius to become aggressive and attack Denise and Demarcus. On realising what he had done, Darius killed himself. Denise was badly injured but alive.
Orcille raced off towards the Downs Region for help. On the way, they encountered a Sentray. Hamlet bravely stood up to the Sentray, who eventually fled. Hamlet carried Orcille and Denise the rest of the way to Downs Region.
Downs Region was now the only region left standing. To Orcille it appeared hopeless, but the Downs residents were optimistic. They prepared carts with fruit to welcome them. Amazingly, this worked, and Downs was saved. A week later, a food truck arrived in the Downs Region. It was the twins and Daily. They had managed to survive the Sentray attack in the Capital Region. The twins also managed to convince Orcille to revert to his/her identity as Orcilla.
Orcilla became the de facto leader of the Downs Region. She was respected for her intelligence and commitment to finding a cure for the Downs residents still suffering from the effects of the contaminated water. Despite her efforts, with their limited resources, she was unable to find a good long-lasting cure. To add further pressure, one of the frozen Linap found by Denise had been taken. Orcilla decided that the remaining ten Linap should be defrosted.
Orcilla also decided that Lily needed to be defrosted, as they needed her help understanding some ancient documents that they had found. Lily helped with documents, but she started to pursue another objective. Yassme’s relationship with her twin sister had become strained. This was because Yassmay had grown much closer to Orcilla. Lily quickly noticed this. Lily believed that if she could create a divide between Yassme and her sister, she could weaken Orcilla’s influence in the region. With constant pressure and manipulation, Yassme snapped. She went to the laboratory and stabbed Orcilla, causing her to fall into a coma.
Orcilla was in a battle to save her own life. Daily was doing everything he could to bring her around. Meanwhile, Orcilla was fighting an internal battle. She had deep regret for the loss of life she had caused by drawing the Sentray to the mainland. She saw her old self as a villain. This was one of the reasons why she was so easily convinced to revert to her previous identity of Orcilla.
Orcilla struggled with wanting to live the life she felt she was robbed of and returning to her current world where she was needed. Her perceived villainous self tried to convince her she was too weak to help anyone. Orcilla fought back and won, proving she was stronger than ever. She also embraced her old self as an important part of who she is and still needs. Then she woke up to find herself in a crashed vehicle.
Pardi Carvaress
Pardi was the son of Earl Carvaress. His mother died during childbirth, and Earl spent most of his time working. Therefore, Pardi spent much of his time in the care of servants. Many of these servants were Sapiens. Pardi did not enjoy being looked after by them, and what made it worse for him was that he was often ill when he was young.
When Pardi was a little older, he was forced to shapeshift in the presence of Earl’s Sapien friends. Earl sent Pardi to a school with Sapiens, and this forced him to shapeshift. Pardi hated being forced to shapeshift, and this fuelled his anger at the Sapiens. One day, Pardi told his father about his growing anger and hatred towards the Sapiens. Earl agreed to send Pardi to an all-Linap school.
When Pardi was fourteen, his father died in a tragic accident. Pardi blamed a Sapien, who made a costly mistake. Pardi’s anger towards Sapiens now had turned to hatred. Pardi lived with an aunt whom he did not like. Pardi’s pain had caused him to become a recluse. A girl named Milly, who had been a friend for many years, wanted to help Pardi. Finally, Pardi decided to open up to her. Pardi pulled out of his depression, and his friendship blossomed into a teen romance.
Eventually, Pardi and Milly married. Sadly, tragedy struck again. Milly died during childbirth. Pardi blamed the Sapien doctor for her death, and his hatred for Sapiens was refuelled. Milly’s death had nothing to do with the doctor. Milly died because of the size of the baby. Her baby, Orcilla, was abnormally large. This was because of her mixed genetics of Sapien and Linap.
Pardi formed a close bond with Orcilla. This relationship went sour when Pardi found out that Orcilla was part Sapien and then found out she was not his child. Pardi could not bear to look at Orcilla anymore. He kept thinking of her mother and the betrayal. He told Orcilla that he wanted her to attend school and to go as a boy. Orcilla was shocked but agreed to do so.
Orcilla did not like her male persona. Once she graduated, she believed she could revert to her female persona. However, Pardi insisted she remain as her male persona. Orcilla went against Pardi and attended the ball as herself but used the name Yassmeay.
Pardi was furious. He went to his laboratory, where he intoxicated himself with a variety of chemicals. Since finding out about Orcilla, this was a common occurrence for Pardi. Orcilla went to see Pardi after the ball. She felt bad that Pardi was so devastated by her actions. Pardi, in a blind rage, drugged and operated on Orcilla. He wanted to give a permanent sex change. In doing so, he permanently mutilated her and almost killed her.
Once the effects of the chemicals died off, Pardi deeply regretted what he had done to Orcilla. He desperately wanted to make things right. However, he could not do that with Orcilla directly. Therefore, he made two clones of Orcilla. Despite the severity of her injuries, Orcilla recovered to a certain extent. However, she was permanently scarred and needed medication for life. Orcilla switched her identity to Orcille. Orcilla seemed dead to her now.
Pardi, out of guilt, sent Orcille away to university and then to infiltrate a group of rebellious Sapiens in Adoy. With Orcille out of his way, Pardi was able to break away from his addictions. He also built his friendship/relationship with Collingswaggle.
Pardi’s hatred for Sapiens was as strong as ever, and in many ways he had become even more maniacal. Pardi’s anger had extended to the current Government, which he strongly felt was giving away too much to the Sapiens for free. He wanted to bring the Government down. He believed the best way to do it was by creating chaos somewhere. The easiest place to do that was Adoy, where he had infiltrated the Inquisitives with Orcille.
Pardi created chaos as planned. Collingswaggle believed it would be sufficient to successfully bring down the Government, and he was right. Even the representatives affiliated to the House of Divine Knowledge felt compelled to vote against the Government given the anger that was brewing in the regions.
The next stage was a Governors Election where new governors would be elected. In theory, it was possible that governors affiliated to the House of Divine Knowledge would still dominate the new Government. This would be unlikely. The House of Divine Knowledge was not a political party. They merely offered support to candidates who advocate their ideology.
Lily could be considered the de facto leader, but she did not control all the representatives affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge. Even if she did have that level of authority, another House of Divine Knowledge-dominated Government would be a bad strategy since the previous one was just removed through a vote of ‘no confidence’.
Lily's objective was to maintain a sufficient presence in the Government to prevent the Business Sector from obtaining a supermajority. Therefore, pushing the decisions to the representatives, where the number of representatives affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge outnumbered the number of representatives affiliated with the Business Sector.
Lily tried to manipulate Pardi, who had the most political influence in regard to Business Sector representatives. However, Pardi tricked Lily into trusting him and manipulated her in return. This led to a strong, coordinated voting strategy by the representatives affiliated with the Business Sector and a far less coordinated one by the representatives affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge.
The non-affiliated representatives supported the representatives affiliated with the Business Sector because of the vote of ‘no confidence’. Therefore, the Business Sector achieved the required supermajority to control the Government.
Pardi continued to progress his development of a cure for Linap’s ailments, and it appeared he had some significant success. He had developed powerful serums from the Sentray DNA that could rapidly cure diseases and heal injuries, even enabling limbs to grow back. Pardi also had advanced technology that enabled him to rapidly incubate and grow Linap with genes enhanced by his serums.
Orcille returned to the Capital Region. Pardi tried to rebuild his relationship with him, but he was unable to shake his deep hatred of what Orcille represented to him and his deep guilt for his own behaviour. He sent Orcille to an out-of-region facility to be held permanently as a prisoner. He believed he could redeem himself by directing his affection towards the twins.
Elsewhere in Sapey, mostly near the coast, Sapes were mysteriously dying. Pardi saw the Sape deaths as an opportunity to finally rid Sapey of the Sapiens. At this point, he knew he could cure the Linap, and he knew he could rapidly create genetically modified Linap that were free of all disease. He felt there was no longer a need for the Sapiens.
Pardi blamed the deaths of the Sapes on water contamination. He claimed the region’s water supply would soon be contaminated too and that the Sapiens would be killed or go mad. Pardi proposed adding a special solution to the water that would detoxify it. However, this solution was highly poisonous. In sufficient quantities it would kill. If diluted, it would cause infertility and other illnesses. The goal was to wipe out the Sapiens within a generation. Considering the Sapiens were restricted to enclosed regions, it would be impossible to escape consuming the poisonous water.
Lily knew something was wrong with the water, and she tried to expose Pardi’s plan. However, she was arrested. Jennifer, through Vulay, thwarted the attempt to add the solution to the Adoy water supply. This infuriated Pardi. He sent a giant flying machine to poison the region by air. Massive amounts of toxic gases were dropped on Adoy to simulate the type of deaths of the Sapes.
Maskameera, whose persona was Ofnisim at the time, reported the mass execution as a consequence of the poisonous dust from the wastelands entering their water supply. This caused the residents in the other regions to demand the solution be placed in their water supplies immediately.
Pardi wanted to poison both the Sapiens and Linap. He wanted to eliminate the Sapiens within a generation and wanted to control the population of the Linap by breeding them in his incubators.
Pardi sent trains to all the regions. However, August and Maskameera had become aware of Pardi’s plans to breed the genetically modified stronger Linap. They saw this as a threat to them. With the Sentray approaching the Capital Region, they incited riots in the other regions to draw the Capital Region enforcers away.
Lily paid Pardi a visit in his secret laboratory. She sought revenge on him. The Sentray destroying his work was not enough for her; she wanted to finish him off. Lily stabbed Pardi, believing she had killed him. She fled with some vials of his serum and the seaweed-based cure he had invented. However, Pardi had survived. He had taken some of the serum and rapidly self-healed.
Pardi was now located in a secret hideout in the mountains. Pardi called back the helicopter Lily fled in. He captured Lily and froze her in a cryogenic pod. The Sentray saw the helicopter descend into the hideout and used this as a point of attack. Pardi was forced to leave the hideout. The mother of baby Sentray, whom he had experimented on, caught him and ate him.
Pardi’s Assistants
Pardi had many different assistants. He treated all of them badly. He attacked one assistant because he did not give him the response he wanted to hear. He ordered his guards to have him thrown from a moving train.
Patricia Alset
Patricia was Locum Alset’s youngest daughter. She was jealous of her niece Jenna, as she believed she had taken her place as Locum’s favourite. She also did not like her nephew Demadrian, as she believed he was arrogant. She believed because of his recklessness that James Yensid had gained access to the blue juice.
Patricia followed Demadrian back to the North District. Through contact with the facility guards, Patricia found out that Demadrian had conducted experiments on babies and Sapes. From the details he provided her, she knew he was working on a new intelligence serum. She considered these babies a threat. She ordered the guards to capture or kill the babies and the mothers.
The mothers with their babies tried to escape on a bus, but the bus was forced off the road and crashed. Demadrian was in a rage; he had become emotionally attached to the mothers and babies. When he caught up with Patricia, he snapped and beat her to death.
When Patricia was a young adult, she worked in the North District facility. She developed a drug that was initially aimed to improve health but instead caused partial brain death. Patricia gave the drug to the Alset employees. The brain damage caused them to become more focused and placid and less questioning of the task they had been assigned.
Patricia gave some of this drug to Tiberius’ guards. He was happy with the outcome. Over the years, Patricia refined her drug. She created a new group of employees who came to be known as the technicians. They were highly intelligent and skilled in technical tasks. They also worked together extremely well and seemed almost psychically connected to each other. However, the technicians lacked basic social skills with those outside their group. They also struggled to understand the ‘big picture’, as their focus was almost entirely on the task at hand.
Patricia did not like Tiberius and his frequent visits to the facility. She and Hadrian decided that they would acquire their own guards to protect the facility.
Pedro
Pedro descended from Jackson Alset and was an ancestor of Miro and Flint. He was born underground and was a leader of the eastern tribes. He desired the Alset family to control all twelve underground tribes. He created militaries to control the tunnels, which in turn enabled him to control the other tribes by controlling their movement. These gave the Alset family greater power for generations to come. The only tribe they were unable to control was the cult tribe.
Percival
Percival was a distant relative of Sanguine. He was considered noble but had no longer retained the family name. Percival was the Deputy Captain of the former North Guards. He became the Deputy Head of the newly formed enforcers in the Capital District.
Percival became Head Enforcer when Tiberius was appointed the Governor of the Capital District. Even though he was not entirely comfortable doing so, Percival was committed to enforcing the law. He was loyal to Tiberius and was blinded to his true nature because he believed that he was intrinsically good and noble.
Percival became Duffo’s mentor and eventually handed over his position of Head Enforcer to Duffo when he believed he was ready. Percival became an advisor alongside Sanguine. Tiberius and Sanguine decided that Cellrerum and Carrington cities needed to be destroyed. They wanted Percival because of his experience to lead the attack on Carrington City. Percival declined because he believed such extreme measures were wrong. Tiberius decided he would take over the attack himself.
Neither Duffo nor Tiberius returned from the attack, and Sanguine had committed suicide. Percival took back his role as Head Enforcer for several years. During this time, he replaced all the enforcers loyal to Tiberius. After that he retired; he left the city to live in a cottage in the countryside. He faced no reprisal for his past support of Tiberius.
Pardi’s Train Guards
While Pardi was on his way to the opening of the Cellrebrum Rehabilitation Centre, he called on his two train guards to arrest his assistant, who appeared to be attacking him. After the attack, Pardi blamed his guards for allowing the assistant near him. On arrival in Cellrebrum, the enforcers arrested the two guards. The guards were briefly detained in the new rehabilitation centre.
On release, they sought revenge on Pardi. They went to his apartment in the Capital Region to kill him. It appeared they succeeded. However, it was all just a simulation. They had not left Cellrebrum and had now sealed their fates as the first ‘gone cases’. They were sent to Pardi to be experimented on.
Phallia
Phallia was the eldest daughter of Locum Alset. She and Jenna arranged to exchange their gold coins for the new coins under the new governor.
Phallia was one of the Alset family members who chose to lead the residents of Carrington and Cellrebrum to the underground cities. Phallia became the leader of the southern underground city. All the current Alset family members in the underground cities descended from Phallia’s son Jackson.
Phillip
Phillip was a popular and well-known Downs resident. He tried to help anyone he could. He loved to eat cheesy pizzas covered in chunks of pineapple. He helped Yassme test her mind voice device. She paid him in pizza slices from her pizza truck. Phillip was very sensitive to angry behaviour. He would panic if anyone raised his or her voice to him.
Phillip came up with the idea of using the mind voice to help Daily reach Orcilla while she was in a coma. His suggestion helped save her life. Phillip consistently proved he was a very valuable member of the Downs society.
Polly
Polly was on a train with her boyfriend, Delford, heading to the Tarrus Region. On the train, she met her friend Demarcus. Around halfway through the journey, the track twisted violently to one side. Polly and her friends managed to get off the train. While escaping, they were joined by Gilly, who felt safer in their company.
When the enforcers arrived, Demarcus did not want to be rescued by them. He was nervous because of recent bad experiences. Polly decided to stay with him, and so did the others. The train was no longer able to stay on the track and fell into the wastelands. Polly and her friends decided they needed to walk through the wastelands to reach safety.
On their walk, they discovered a plant turning waste into the ash that appeared to cover the wastelands. Demarcus wanted to explore further, but Delford refused and wanted to leave. Polly went with Delford, who was eager to reach the Southern Agricultural Zone. Just before they reached the Southern Agricultural Zone, they encountered an enforcer patrol. Polly hid, but Delford tried to get their attention. In return, they killed him.
Polly made it to the Southern Agriculture Zone. Demarcus and Gilly were not far behind. Gilly was exhausted, and Demarcus had to carry her. They finally arrived, and Demarcus collapsed in exhaustion. Polly found both Demarcus and Gilly. She gave them water to help their dehydration. Both of them soon recovered.
Polly was devastated over the loss of Delford. She blamed Demarcus and his curiosity for his death. It did not take long for Polly to put her anger aside. The three of them found a giant slaughterhouse. They worked together to rescue the Sapes inside. Sadly, the Sapes that were rescued were soon recaptured when the enforcers at the nearest regions were alerted. Gilly was also captured with them, and she was taken to the Jeed Region.
Demarcus and Polly encountered a Sapiod. Demarcus was convinced that this Sapiod was his brother Darius. Demarcus convinced Polly that they needed to visit Mikayla in Jeed to find out what had happened to Darius.
On meeting Mikayla, Demarcus found out that she had no idea that Darius had been turned into a Sapiod-like creature. This caused her to snap. In her anger, she set the main office on fire and killed her boss, Dr. Crane.
Demarcus, Polly, and Darius managed to escape. They made it all the way to the edge of the Southern Agriculture Zone in the vehicle Demarcus had taken. Rednik, an enforcer, tracked the vehicle. He found what was left of the vehicle had been stripped. He followed them into the wastelands, where he caught up with them. He took the three of them back to Adoy.
Rednik approached Vulay, who was now the Head Enforcer of Adoy. He wanted Demarcus and Polly to be removed from the fatality list from the train crash. Vulay agreed to do so. This did not last.
Vulay was being controlled by Jennifer. Jennifer saw Rednik, Polly, and Demarcus as a threat. Jennifer caused the vehicle Rednik and Polly were in to crash into the region’s external wall. This killed Rednik, and Polly was badly injured. Vulay decided she wanted to save Polly, as she had the ability to become invisible, which could be a great asset to her.
Polly had a number of medical procedures to save her life. One of the non-life-saving procedures was the Jennifer chip. Polly could communicate with Jennifer. Jennifer allowed Polly to operate autonomously, but she could take over when necessary. Polly was disabled during the Sentray attack. She was reactivated when Octavius Spiro powered up a computer with Jennifer installed on it.
Polly and Octavius became friends. Jennifer allowed Polly to communicate with Octavius uninterrupted. When L6 Linap was defrosted, Polly brought him back to their camp in the Lake Region. Polly implanted a Jennifer chip inside L6’s brain to read his thoughts and recover his memories. She found out about his dark past, which greatly disturbed her.
Jennifer wanted to use L6, who she knew the others would identify as Hamish Alset, the most senior member of the family and arguably the leader. Jennifer also obtained information about a special seaweed that could treat or cure the illnesses that plagued many of the Downs residents. Polly persuaded Octavius to retrieve the seaweed, which he reluctantly agreed to do.
Polly took the seaweed and L6 Linap to meet the residents of Downs and the underground Linap who had just arrived in Downs. Polly became predominantly under the control of Jennifer. She protected L6 when he was attacked by Demadrian.
Jennifer used Polly to kill Jenna, placing the blame on Vulay. Jennifer forced Polly to operate on Vulay to reinsert the Jennifer chip back into her brain, putting Vulay back under the control of Jennifer once again.
Portia
Portia was Locum Alset’s second eldest daughter and fifth eldest child. Initially, she was going to be frozen, but she gave up her place for Hadrian. Instead, she moved underground to become the leader of the eastern underground city.
Priscilla
Priscilla lived with her husband, Dominic, in a small town outside of Adoy. She helped look after and hide Alma and her son Jimbo. Jimbo was a back-bred Linap, which was illegal. Priscilla and Dominik helped Alma and Jimbo seek safety in the West District House of Divine Knowledge when all residents were forced to move to the cities.
