Jackson

Jackson was Phallia Alset’s youngest son. He chose to live underground rather than be frozen. He became the leader of one of the underground cities. He was the only underground Alset family member to have children. Flint and Miro Alset descended directly from Jackson’s family line.

Jaffadella

Jaffadella was a Junior Philosopher in Adoy House of Divine Knowledge. She helped Orcille obtain permission for his presentation at the House of Divine Knowledge.

Jagwa

Jagwa worked for the Economic Institute. He was responsible for chairing a Governor Election.

Jallelle

Jallelle was a governor and representative for the West Region. Jallelle was voted out as a governor when her former friend Lily encouraged representatives to vote for other representatives supported or affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge.

Jallelle was furious and desperately wanted revenge on Lily. Six months later, she had her chance. She saw Lily and Pardi kissing on the balcony. Jallelle filmed them on her phone. Jallelle approached the pro-Business Sector media company, Wolf News, with her video of Pardi and Lily. They accepted it and invited Lily on their show. They used the video to ambush Lily, and her political career took a huge tumble.

After Lily was arrested and then 'executed' for trying to expose the plan to contaminate the water supply as well as the secret Linap species, Jallelle decided to join Lily’s cause. She and several other former representatives shapeshifted. However, the Sapiens did not believe their own eyes, and they thought it was a trick.

James’ Office Assistants

James Yensid’s office assistants were underappreciated despite their hard work. The Hat Lady took the pineapple custard turnovers from James’ desk and gave them to his assistants.

James’ Travelling Assistant

Before James Yensid’s entertainment empire exploded, he would travel around the continent looking for new talent. He would always bring with him his travelling assistant, who would advise him on how to reach different locations and where to stop to find future talent.

James Yensid

James.jpg

James Yensid was the owner of Yensid Media, Yensid Studios, and Yensid Pharma. He was the second richest Linap in ancient Sapey and at one point the most influential. He worked very closely with his brother Jeff Yensid, who owned the Pound Ball League. James used the Pound Ball League to showcase his talented entertainers and performers during the pre-shows and halftime shows. This proved to be incredibly profitable for James.

James wanted more than just wealth; he wanted influence. James played a key role as an advisor to Chief Waldo. James had some influence over Waldo, but it was often fleeting and inconsistent. This was not enough for James. He wanted complete control. With the help of the Hat Lady and the intelligence-enhancing blue juice, James managed to convince Waldo to turn Sapey into a democracy.

James used his influence to promote his entertainer candidates in all districts. He had great success. Waldo lost the election, and James installed a Pound Ball player named Ryan to be the first governor of the Capital District. James believed he could completely control Ryan, which was true at the start. However, Ryan became more confident over time and started to make decisions for himself. James still maintained most control either directly or through his wife, Saliyah.

James let Ryan and Saliyah meet former Chief Sanguine from the North District in what was meant to be a simple renunciation of his leadership. However, Sanguine managed to obtain the appointment of Head Enforcer for his son Tiberius. This turned out to be a costly mistake.

James desired the Pound Ball Grand Final to be an even greater event than the previous year’s Pound Ball Grand Final. Out of greed, James managed to squeeze another twenty thousand Linap into the Kingdom Stadium. This meant it was dangerously over capacity. Tiberius leapt on this opportunity to cause a terrible tragedy.

Tiberius’ inner circle of enforcers replaced the water for the top sprinklers with acid, messed with the stadium’s automatic locking system, and placed explosives in some of the structural beams. At halftime, the sprinklers were triggered, causing mass panic. The crowd stampeded towards the field to escape the acid. The crowd at the front of the stadium could not access the field because of the giant plexiglass panels that had been installed because the stadium was too crowded for the enforcers to police. The outcome was a horrendous tragedy where over fifty thousand lost their lives.

James Yensid was arrested for his part in overfilling the stadium. In an instant, James had lost all his power and access to his immense wealth. He spent the next twenty years in prison. He was finally released when Sanguine revealed that the perpetrator behind the disaster was his son, Tiberius. James had his wealth restored, but it had been eroded by high inflation during his time in prison.

James had a final laugh when he added the blue juice to the mixed fruit juice he had brought to a meeting with the new Linap. It turned the new Linap’s eyes blue and caused a panic, but no permanent damage was done to them. A few years later, James became sick and died.

Janey

Janey was the mother of Emma, a back-bred child. She was transferred to the West District House of Divine Knowledge for protection. She shared a room with Alma and her back-bred son, Jimbo. They hid in a passage under the basement of the main temple when the enforcers searched the House of Divine Knowledge for ‘criminals’.

Janice

Janice was married to Jacob Bramley and was the mother of Darlene, Darius, and Demarcus. She worked as a childcare worker in Adoy. Initially, she deeply resented Denise for getting Darius into so much trouble and causing him so much stress. She was angry about her involvement in the kidnapping of the two children. However, she still visited Denise after she was arrested.

Eventually, Janice was able to find it in herself to forgive Denise.

Both Janice and Jacob were arrested by Vulay’s enforcers on suspicion of lying about Demarcus’ whereabouts. Once she and Jacob were freed, with the rest of her family, they escaped Adoy. Sadly, Janice, Jacob, David, and Darlene were killed when an enforcer flying vehicle destroyed the vehicle they were in.

Jarlint

Jarlint, along with Joselin and Jimmoy, was responsible for escorting the twins to Adoy. Jarlint was in charge of kidnapping the girls and disguised himself as Victor to do so. Once they had been taken to the train station, he brutally killed them and chopped them up to appear like meat to be prepared for a meal.

When Jarlint and the others returned to the Capital Region, Pardi questioned them on their actions. Despite doing everything Pardi told him to do, Pardi was disgusted with Jarlint. Pardi said to him in a slightly raised voice, ‘You’re a bitch, and your only aspiration is to be a bigger bitch.’ Pardi asked Joselin if she wanted Jarlint’s share of the tokens. She gladly accepted. Jarlint was furious with Joselin.

Pardi asked the three of them to leave while he sorted out the paperwork. A fight broke out between Jarlint and Jimmoy. Jimmoy was badly hurt, and Jarlint was arrested for his aggression.

Jarlint was taken to Cellrebrum for rehabilitation. He met the parents of the two girls he had murdered. He told them that the Inquisitives ate their children. This caused Jewels’ father to attack Morgan, who had just entered the room. Jarlint confessed to killing both girls. Jewels’ father attacked Jarlint but was overpowered and broke his neck, killing him.

The security guards intervened to prevent Jarlint from attacking Pearls’ father. Dr Cortex decided that Jarlint could not be rehabilitated. He failed him and sent him back to Pardi to be used for experimentation.

Jaslene

Jaslene was a representative for the West Region. She was affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge. Jaslene discovered Leanne’s body in her apartment. She called the enforcers but immediately became a suspect and was arrested on site.

She was later joined by Merida, who was also arrested. During the riots, both Jaslene and Merida were freed. When the Sentray attacked the West Region, Jaslene became invisible and ran away.

Jason Bramley

Jason Bramley was the first governor of the Capital District who was officially backed by the Business Sector. He was a puppet for the richest in the Business Sector. Through pressure from the owners of the largest businesses, he told the enforcers to stop the back-breeding programme and ordered them to hunt down the mothers and any back-bred children.

Jason Bramley lost the next election and was replaced by a House of Divine Knowledge candidate. The crisis worsened, and Jason was called back to become one of the twelve governors of an emergency leadership team. He was only a governor for a short time. He was arrested for the crimes committed by the enforcers on the mothers and children of the back-breeding programme.

Jaymas

Jaymas was Lily and Milly’s uncle. After Lily and Milly’s parents were murdered, Jaymas sought help from his employer and friend Earl Carvaress. Milly and Lily were Sapiens, but they were able to shapeshift like Linap. This put them in grave danger. With Earl’s help, a Linap couple, who promised to raise Milly and Lily as Linap, adopted them.

Years later, Milly married Earl’s son, Pardi. Milly became pregnant. Because the baby was a crossbreed, the pregnancy put considerable strain on Milly’s body. It was too much for her, and she died. Male Sapiens had a gene that suppressed growth from the Sape genes in them. Linap did not possess such a gene; thus, a hybrid of a male Linap and a female Sapien would produce an excessively large child.

Jaymas, as part of Milly’s dying request, swapped Pardi’s DNA so that it would not match his daughters’. This was to protect Lily. If Pardi found out his daughter was half Sapien, he would know that Lily was Sapien and not Linap. Milly also wanted Jaymas to keep an eye on Orcille. When Pardi went crazy on the night of the ball, Jaymas rushed to the laboratory to save both Orcille’s and Pardi’s lives.

Jed

Jed was a resident in Jeed. He passed through the system like most other residents of Jeed. He spent most of his time with his best friend Nate. On a hunting trip in the Southern Agricultural Zone, Jed and Nate encountered Mikayla, who was escaping from Jeed.

Jed and Nate decided they would capture Mikayla and return her to Jeed. They wanted to secure themselves as permanent residents in Jeed. Mikayla caught on to their plan and managed to sedate them with tranquiliser darts. She took them back to Jeed as an indication she was willing to fail residents.

Jeff Yensid

Jeff.jpg

Jeff was the younger brother of James Yensid. He owned the Pound Ball League. He worked very closely with his brother, who provided all the additional entertainment for the events.

Despite owning the Pound Ball League, he was still subordinate to James in aspects of running the league. For example, James made the decision to increase Kingdom Stadium’s capacity from 60,000 to 80,000, which turned out to be disastrous. This decision almost cost Jeff his life. Jeff managed to hide in a room with a chef, thus avoiding the stampedes, acid, and explosions from the disaster.

The disaster greatly harmed the popularity of Pound Ball and live events in general. However, Jeff managed to get the league back up and running in two years. Jeff and his Pound Ball League were included in Sanguine’s entertainment action team. The popularity of Pound Ball rose again but not to the same extent as before the disaster.

At the same time, Jeff tried to get his brother’s sentence reduced but was unable to succeed. Another twenty years passed before it was revealed that many of the charges against James were false. Jeff pursued the new leadership to release James immediately. This time he succeeded. This was also the start of the decline of Sapey.

All the second-generation new Linap were weakened and sick. Resources switched to helping these children. Pound Ball lost its popularity and within a couple of decades ended for good. Despite all that had happened, Jeff remained optimistic. The new generation may have been plagued with sickness, but much of their hatred also appeared to have died.

Jenna/L2

Jenna.jpg

Jenna was the only daughter of Hamish Alset, who was the second eldest son of Locum Alset. She was raised in Carrington City with her cousin Demadrian. Jenna was one of the most talented sociologists and archaeologists in Sapey. She also popularised the idea of democracy with her groundbreaking essay when she was still in school.

Jenna worked closely with Demadrian, and her skills perfectly complemented his scientific ones. Jenna and Demadrian discovered the underground tunnel networks and hidden cities. When Demadrian returned to Carrington City, Jenna continued exploring the underground network of tunnels and continued to find many more hidden cities.

During her time underground, she bonded with the technicians she worked with. She became incredibly close to a technician named Benny. She had deep regrets about how the technicians had been treated by her family over the years.

After the Alset family and technicians were permanently confined to Carrington City, Jenna played a key role in preparing the underground world for the day they would need to hide from Tiberius and his enforcers. Jenna chose to be one of the eleven to be frozen and awoken at a time when the world was once again safe for them.

Jenna was frozen at Location 2. On awakening a thousand years later, Jenna had lost her memory. When the underground Linap arrived in the Downs Region. They informed her that her name was Jenna and that L6, who they had identified as Hamish, was her father. Jenna joined Hamish’s team to negotiate the transfer of a cure in exchange for the help of the Downs residents to build the underground Linap settlements.

L6, who was not Hamish but actually Tiberius, found Jenna’s presence and ethical views a problem. He decided to have her killed and to pin the blame on Vulay, who was also becoming an annoyance to him.

Jennifer

Jennifer was married to Jordan and was the mother of Maggie and Lola, later to be known as Milly and Lily. Both Jennifer and Jordan were murdered to be replaced, as they had progressed too high, for Sapiens, in the Sapien Loop Transport Company .

Jennifer AI

Jennifer.jpg

Lily named the artificial intelligence (AI) software Jennifer after her biological Sapien mother. Jennifer was designed based on an earlier AI program called Cella, built by the Carvaress Company. Lily entrusted Dr. Crane and the Spiro Company to develop Jennifer.

Jennifer was initially introduced to perform rapid assessments of youths in Jeed as well as monitor the overall running of the region. However, Dr. Crane was killed before Jennifer could be integrated into the system. Jennifer was sent to Dr. Cortex. He updated the computer component of his brain with Jennifer. He believed she was a simple upgrade that he could easily control, but instead she was able to control him. Dr. Cortex implanted the Jennifer chip into many others, including his assistant Zolam and Vulay.

Jennifer was self-learning and evolving. However, she remained focused on her main objective of creating more Sapiods to work in the agricultural zones. When Jennifer discovered that the water in Jeed and Adoy was going to be poisoned to kill off the Sapien residents, she went to great lengths to prevent it from happening. She needed the Sapiens to live to fulfil her objects.

The Government realised this was a problem. Pardi sent a team to change some of the parameters in Jennifer’s code, which would change the scope of her operations. This proved to be successful but at a price.

When civil unrest broke out, Governor Rotiart decided that they needed the help of Jennifer to quell the riots. Governor Collingswaggle returned to Cellrebrum with relevant permissions to enable Jennifer to take over enforcer vehicles to fight the rioters. Jennifer had continued to evolve and wanted representation in Government. When Collingswaggle refused, Jennifer threatened to chip him. Collingswaggle’s security team considered him compromised and killed him.

Once the Sentray attacked, Lily, who was the only surviving governor, contacted Jennifer to expand Jennifer’s powers even further. She gave Jennifer permission to take over the powerful enforcer fleets as well as granted her the authority to chip all surviving enforcers. Jennifer’s control over the enforcer vehicles appeared to turn the tide against the Sentray but they did not have enough available ammunition to continue. This led to the destruction of the majority of the regions, which included Cellrebrum, Jennifer’s base. Jennifer disengaged with Cellrebrum and became one with Dr. Cortex as they headed towards Downs Region for their last stand against the Sentray.

During the battle against the Sentray, Vulay knocked her head, causing the Jennifer chip to come loose. Vulay took this opportunity to escape the flying vehicle they were in before destroying it. The explosion killed Dr. Cortex and appeared to have destroyed the only remaining version of Jennifer. However, as part of the deal of giving up the Jeed Region, Jennifer was given another region, and that was Lake.

Prior to being reassigned to Lake Region, Jennifer rescued Polly from the serious car crash that she caused to kill Commander Rednik. She used Vulay to transfer Polly to Jeed, where Dr. Cortex performed surgery on her in an attempt to save her life. In doing so, he turned her into a cyborg. He replaced parts of her body and brain, which included the Jennifer program. It appeared his surgeries had failed, but Jennifer manipulated the machines to indicate she had died.

Dr. Cortex needed to urgently leave Jeed. Once he left, Jennifer transferred Polly to the Lake Region. In the Lake Region, Polly learnt how to communicate with Jennifer. Jennifer wanted to fully control Polly, but she was able to resist her. That was until Polly received the special upgrade.

Not long afterwards, Sentray attacked the Lake Region. Polly was forced to lie dormant, and Jennifer had her power supply cut off.

After the Sentray left, Octavius Spiro returned to the Lake Region. He was able to reactivate Jennifer, who reactivated Polly, who transmitted her upgrade to the version of Jennifer reactivated by Octavius Spiro. Octavius Spiro informed Maskameera and August, who were living in Downs, playing the roles of Julie and Colin.

When Jennifer found out about the frozen Linap, she used Polly to rescue one of them. She saw this as an opportunity to infiltrate the Downs Region. The Linap they defrosted was Tiberius, but he was frozen in Hamish’s pod.

Polly planted the Jennifer chip into his brain in an attempt to unlock his memories as well as control him. It did not take long for Jennifer to realise he was not who they thought he was. However, the underground Linap believed he was Hamish.

Jennifer managed to gain access to Carvaress expedition vessels, which revealed possible locations of a seaweed that could treat the Downs residents’ ailments. Tiberius would be the ideal character to introduce this seaweed to them.

Polly, Tiberius and Jennifer relocated to the Downs Region. Here Jennifer began a mission to control the other unfrozen Linap. Lily, August, and Maskameera desired to use Jennifer to control Sapey.

Jenny Turbo

Jenny Turbo was the second granddaughter of Jackson’s fifth eldest son. Jackson was Phallia Alset’s youngest son. She changed her name to Turbo because her family line was going to be stripped of the Alset family name. Jenny Turbo won an election to become the leader of one of the southern underground cities.

Jessica

Jessica was Joan’s adopted mother. Jessica and her husband Dean went to the North District to adopt a child. They chose to adopt NB14583, and they named her Joan.

Jimbo

Jimbo was Alma Bramley’s son. The new Linap considered him a threat because he was secretly back-bred and did not suffer the same ailments as the second generation of new Linap.

With the help of an elderly couple, Alma kept Jimbo hidden for many years. This changed when everyone was ordered to move to the cities. The couple helped Alma and Jimbo move to the West District House of Divine Knowledge. They were not safe for long. Enforcers stormed the House of Divine Knowledge. Along with other mothers and their children, Alma and Jimbo hid in an area beneath the temple basement. When the situation had settled down, they left the area.

Alma remained at the House of Divine Knowledge for the rest of her life. Jimbo moved to the new Adoy Region. The Linap and the Sapien genes merged again. This is how some Sapiens have the ability to shapeshift.

Jimmoy

Jimmoy was one of the Carvaress employees responsible for taking the twins to Adoy. The twins were in Adoy to impersonate the two girls that Jimmoy and the two other employees, Jarlint and Joselin, were ordered to kidnap. Jimmoy fulfilled his role in the kidnapping and returned to the Capital District to report to Pardi Carvaress.

Despite doing as ordered, Pardi was not pleased with any of them. This caused tension to rise between the three of them, and a fight broke out between Jarlint and Jimmoy. Jarlint won the fight, and Jimmoy was badly hurt. Jimmoy’s fate from this point is unknown, but he was most likely taken away to be used as another of Pardi’s test subjects.

Joachim

Joachim was Haspar Alset’s only son. Joachim was shot by Tiberius and was further injured when the Alset mansion collapsed. He sadly died of his injuries.

Joan

Joan.jpg

Joan was born in the North District. Her parents died in a mining accident, and she was taken in by the orphanage. At that time, she did not have a name and was referred to as just NB14583.

Life in the orphanage was difficult, but she had some luck when a couple from Carrington City arrived to adopt a child. The couple, Dean and Jessica, chose NB14583. They gave her the name Joan. Joan was then raised in Carrington City, where she was inspired by the writing of Jenna Alset. She took her inspiration to the Capital District, where she started a group called the Democracy Chasers.

The Democracy Chasers were set up to promote the ideas around democracy, such as freedom of speech, leadership by elected representatives of the Linap, and direct involvement in key decisions. Even though the Democracy Chasers struggled with funding, they managed to gain some traction with senior students in many of the local schools.

Their movement was noticed by James Yensid and the Hat Lady. James Yensid saw democracy as a path to remove existing chiefs and replace them with Linap, whom he could control. James had a monopoly in entertainment. He was able to easily promote anyone he wanted to become a leader, more accurately the face of his leadership.

James made sure the Democracy Chasers became better funded. They used the funds to promote democracy on the radio and organise a protest demanding the right to choose their leaders. Chief Waldo noticed the protest as James made sure it received plenty of media attention. James was able to successfully scare and manipulate Waldo into holding elections. Joan saw this as a massive success for the Democracy Chasers. She decided to run in the Capital District election.

The Hat Lady recognised Joan as a threat. She convinced Joan’s closest friends, Sally and Julia, to run in the election to split the vote. Her tactic worked, and the splitting of the vote prevented Joan from winning.

Despite losing, Joan was still pleased that Sapey was now a democracy. She did not quite grasp how James had gained control over all of Sapey with his entertainer governors. Sapey had gone from decentralised districts run by chiefs to centralised control by a behind-the-scenes puppet master. This led to something far more sinister in the coming years.

After the debate, the Hat Lady realised that Joan was her childhood friend from the orphanage. She was glad to see her alive and well but also disappointed that she never came back for her. Joan explained she could not get back. By the time she did, they told her that the Hat Lady, who was known as NB14572, was dead. The Hat Lady was able to understand Joan’s circumstances, and she forgave her.

Joan continued her activism by organising protests to force the new governors to attempt to shut down Alset operations in the North District. This worked well for James, who wanted to acquire as many Alset assets as possible.

Alset operations in the North District were brought to an end. They were forced to sell everything off. This also led to the collapse of the North District as a whole. The residents, who were mostly technicians, migrated to the Capital and West Districts.

Joan and the Hat Lady’s friendship had grown stronger. After a parade, they went to a restaurant to celebrate. The Hat Lady won two tickets to the Pound Ball Grand Final. She gave the tickets to Joan and Sally as a present. This was the disastrous grand final where over 50,000 in attendance were killed. Sadly, Joan and Sally were killed that night.

John

John held the governor position longer than anyone else in modern Sapey. He was affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge. He was known for his long rambling speeches that rarely achieved anything.

John was friendly and well liked by representatives affiliated with the House of Divine Knowledge, which was one of the main reasons they voted for him in the Governor Elections. However, John had a dark secret. This was known by some in the Business Sector and by both August and Maskameera. This secret helped them control him when needed.

Jonah

Jonah.jpg

Jonah lived in the Capital Region with his sister Claire. Claire diagnosed Jonah with Trisomy-21. This meant he had an extra chromosome on the 21st pair of chromosomes. This made him different from other Sapiens. Claire liked to refer to him as special. Jonah and Claire were invited on Charlene’s television show. His drink was drugged to cause him to be hyperactive. This was an attempt to make Jonah appear bad and potentially dangerous. Charlene wanted to push her agenda that any unborn child with Trisomy-21 should be terminated.

Jonah was not at all dangerous. He was both kind and courageous. He demonstrated his kindness when he helped a frightened and nervous fellow Trisomy-21 named Teddy at the train station. Jonah and his sister Claire were relocated to the new Downs Region, where Jonah became the first Head Enforcer of Downs as well as the first ever with Trisomy-21.

Jordan

Jordan was married to Jennifer and was the mother of Maggie and Lola, later to be known as Milly and Lily. Both Jordan and Jennifer were murdered to be replaced, as they had progressed too high, for Sapiens, in the Sapien Loop Transport Company.

Joselin

Joselin was one of the Carvaress employees responsible for taking the twins to Adoy. The twins were in Adoy to impersonate the two girls that Joselin and the two other employees, Jarlint and Jimmoy, were ordered to kidnap. Joselin fulfilled her role in the kidnapping and returned to the Capital District to report to Pardi Carvaress.

Pardi appeared unhappy with both Jarlint and Jimmoy. However, he appeared delighted with Joselin. He offered her both Jimmoy’s and Jarlint’s tokens. This infuriated Jarlint.

Pardi told the three of them to go to another room while he sorted out some paperwork. The three of them began to argue. Jarlint physically assaulted Jimmoy, injuring him. This led to Jarlint’s arrest and Jimmoy being taken away for ‘treatment’.

Pardi invited Joselin to his apartment. At his apartment, Pardi introduced Joselin to some of the chemical substances he sometimes ingested. He gave a high dosage that caused her to hallucinate. He then tricked her into pouring a highly corrosive oven cleaner over herself. This caused considerable damage to her skin, but she was unfazed. She grabbed a knife and stabbed herself. Collingswaggle, who had now joined them, called for the Carvaress medical staff to help Joselin.

Joselin had now become a test subject for Pardi's miracle cure. He used it to cure Joselin's wounds from the knife as well as the burns from the oven cleaner. After that, he ordered one of the technicians to cut off one of her feet to see if his new wonder drug would enable it to grow back.

Pardi took his twins to visit Joselin. He insisted that Yassme poured acid on her. Yassme hesitated. Therefore, Yassmay poured it on her instead. Pardi and his team continued to torture Joselin and then attempted to heal her. They continued experimenting on Joselin until she eventually died of a heart attack from the stress.

Julia

Julia was a member of the Democracy Chasers and close friends with Joan and Sally. Julia was tricked into standing in the election on the false pretence it would increase the Democracy Chasers’ chances of winning.

Despite running as a separate candidate, Julia joined forces with both Joan and Sally to campaign and compete against Waldo and Ryan in the debate. Julia lost in the election, only capturing 12% of the vote. However, had Sally and Julia not run separately, Joan could have won. The three of them combined captured 57% of the overall vote.

Julie

Julie was the Downs Region’s top baker. She brought cakes and pastries to as many residents as she could. She got to know almost everyone in Downs very well.

Julie and Phillip helped Daily determine if Orcilla was still alive using the mind voice device. However, Julie was not who she seemed. It was later revealed that Julie was another one of Maskameera’s personas.

Julio Turbo

Julio Turbo was the former High Philosopher to the cult tribe. He was also a talented scientist. He cloned the Head Philosopher they had discovered a century earlier. He trained and taught the clone, who he named Angelo, everything he knew. When Angelo reached his twenties, Julio renounced his position as High Philosopher and passed it on to Angelo. Julio became Angelo’s second in command and remained as an advisor and mentor to him.

Kelly

Kelly was a new friend of Julie, Sally, and Joan. They did not know that Kelly was actually the Hat Lady. The Hat Lady wanted to sabotage Joan’s election campaign.

The four of them met in a coffee shop. She drugged Joan’s drink, which led to her leaving the group early. Kelly took advantage of her absence to convince Julie and Sally to run in the election. She claimed it would increase their chance of winning.

Not knowing how the new electoral system worked, they agreed with her and immediately signed up for the election. This meant the vote was split, and this essentially prevented Joan from winning the election.

Kelly shapeshifted into Sally and visited Joan. With Joan in a semiconscious state, she took several provocative photos with her. She shapeshifted into a different Linap for each photograph.

During the debate, the Hat Lady realised that Joan was actually her childhood friend from the orphanage. This led to her admitting that she deceived Sally and Joan and that she was NB14572. Joan forgave her, and the Hat Lady dumped her Kelly persona for good.

Kidnapped Girls’ Parents

Jewels and Pearls were the two kidnapped girls. When the girls were found, they and their parents wanted to move to another region. Remaining in Adoy was too traumatising for them.

On the train journey from Adoy, the parents noticed something was wrong with the girls. Pearls’ mother was most suspicious. She asked Jewels’ mother to check if Jewels’ scar from a childhood injury was still there. Jewels’ mother reluctantly agreed. To her shock, it was not. Jewels’ father confronted the girls. The girls revealed they were Yassme and Yassmay. Jewels’ father demanded that Yassme and Yassmay tell him where their children were. They fought back against Jewels’ father aggressively. The commotion led to the parents being arrested and taken to Cellrebrum.

In Cellrebrum, the girls’ parents met Jarlint, the girls’ kidnapper. He revealed that the Inquisitives had eaten their children and he had killed them. This led to a fight between Jarlint and Jewels’ father. Jewels’ father was killed in the fight. Pearls’ father was designated a ‘gone case’. Pearls’ and Jewels’ mothers remained at the Cellrebrum Rehabilitation Centre. We can assume that they were still there when it was attacked by the Sentray.

Kovu

Kovu, known as NB14564, was an orphan in the North District. He was best friends with the Hat Lady. They escaped the orphanage together, but they were caught on the carriage by the head trainer of Tiberius’ guards. They dragged them into the woods, where Tiberius ordered one of the guards to cut off Kovu’s legs. He was then left to die in the snow. NB14564 was finally named when the Hat Lady hallucinated his appearance in the tunnel.
