RE: Freedom, Censorship, & You: The Ultimate Guide (Emma's Dilemma) Pt. 2

in Freewriters3 years ago

I finally had enough time today to read through the whole post. What I got out of it is that with power comes responsibility. If you are a whale you have power and you are responsible how you use it. Even with that aspect of Hive I can deal with it as apposed to FB or Twitter. On those platforms it feels like the users have little recourse on getting censored. You can't post anything that goes against the message "they" want to be told without getting stuck with a "fact" checker label or some other label basically saying that the content of your post doesn't fall within what we want to be shared on our platform.
Again thanks for the post and explanation of downvoting, something that is not easily understood or explained to newbies.

I'm so glad you got something out of it. With power does indeed come responsibility, and a couple nuances to it are a) many people have more power than they realize and b) anyone can increase their personal power.

That said, you're right that FB and Twitter are setup differently than Hive, and it's easier and more likely to be censored over there, as opposed to here. (So far :D)

Thank you for the comment, and glad you enjoyed my explanation of downvoting, it definitely confused me when I first arrived on Hive! :)
