A camping by the train tracks would have done it cleanly...of course, should had been a very close rail river to adjust to the prompt. Guess if she had looked into the map she would have found a better place. I insist on the train tracks, he would have escaped, though he would have thought it better to declare..."I'll train-crash myself" as well, I suspect he knew about the depth of the river but made some drama to fuck her up a bit...anyway.
