Laughter bubbled out of her, first in tiny little chuckles, then full sized cackles she couldn't even begin to contain.
“I'm sorry, Ms. Oliver, did you misunderstand…?”
She wiped her eyes, slowly beginning to calm down.
“No, doctor, I heard you loud and clear. It's just that, what you just told me? The absolutely devastating news you just gave me? That was maybe the least stressful thing I've been told this week. I am all out of outrage and self-pity and all that other junk. It's all crossed over from tragedy to comedy at this point.”
The doctor blinked rapidly, then asked cautiously, “Would you like to speak to someone…?”
“Nope!” she beamed.
“Okay…” he conceded.
“Okay!” she grinned.
And off she went.
