Hi Carol, I've been seriously considering taking a break for a while but it's proven to be so hard to leave. I began on Steemit in July of 2016, presented at the first couple SteemFests, and then made the transition to Hive during the hardfork. It's hard to believe a decade has passed by so quickly. Genuine engagement for me has been dwindling for the past few years here, that could be because of the bear market and decreasing payouts. People usually leave during those periods. I also sometimes think tastes have changed and readers here have moved on from my kind of writing. If I do decide to take a long break or move on I'll be sure to let you all know! I hope you've been well and have enjoyed summer!

You write splendid posts and poems - if YOU lack the numbers of followers and fans, there is no hope for anyone. Except the pulp fiction/Influencer types. They seem to get the attention. Recently I beta-read a YA novel with all the slapstick, over-acting, and over-REACTing of Scooby Doo and Jurassic Park. Sadly, this stuff sells. Subtle and sophisticated, understated, profound: not gonna sell.
Do keep me posted! I'm sorry I haven't been on Hive much. AT ALL. Why. Well, everytime I check in, three hours will fly by, and I've fallen down another rabbit hole.
You have generously shared your time and talent here. "Engagement" may be down, but I'm confident you have a lot more fans and followers than you think - they just don't take time to respond.
Overwhelm. Too many things competing for our attention.
Thanks - summer is over - I'll enjoy autumn a lot more (looking forward to that killing frost to end the biting bugs and poison ivy).
