
Rest simply means to cease work or movement to relax, sleep, or recover strength. It’s one of the few things that we are expected to do, but we often ignore or procrastinate it. Most of us do not understand the definition of rest, and maybe that’s why it's often overlooked. I too am also guilty of this, as I could be on three days leave, and instead of finding time to rest, I would be seeking what to do as I am restless. It has been programmed in my head that anytime not well spent is being productive has been wasted.
I could remember being on leave and still checking my email to confirm if I had done everything expected of me. Instead of reducing my screen time, I am also adding to it by checking for work while on leave, and that's when the eye beginning to deteriorate.
There are always signs I personally experience when eyesight begins to deteriorate, and I cry for help. I would experience teary eyes, slight headaches, and sometimes even blurry vision. All this could have been avoided or reduced if only I had observed rest and reduced my screen time.
This is not only peculiar to the eyes as every other part of the body would give sign but if only we could rest, observe our bodies in the process, and respond. There is a saying that “there is not better gist/gossip partner than ones body, as it will give a sign before breaking down.
