I have never been to an oil rig before, whether off shore or in shore. But from the looks of it and from what i have read, it would be quite an experience. The off shore rig will be far from the coast because of the pollution.
Since i don't have a first hand experience of the rig, i would not be able to tell which one is preferrable, oof or in shore.
