The silver-haired thing sits in the corner of the cupboard. When she approaches, it hisses at her and pokes at her with what looks like a toothpick.
What is it? Brian asks her.
I have no idea, Alison says. I'm glad you can see it too, though. For a moment I thought I was hallucinating.
It looks female, Brian says, leaning forward to get a better look.
The creature stabs at him and hisses again. He steps back.
Do you think we should call pest control? Or the papers? The police?
Alison shakes her head. I'm going to phone Mandy.
Brian rolls his eyes.
I know what you think of her, Bri. Yes, she can be a bit out there, a bit... flaky. But she might know what this is. And where it came from. And how to send it back.
Brian thought about it. He didn't like Alison's yoga friend. She was far too new-agey for his taste.
But Alison was right, she would probably have a good idea what to do with this imp.
