Besides, Jack loved baking, and she was enjoying herself too much to stop. She was finding it was great fun acting like someone's mother without the burden of responsibility. All she had to do was nurture and feed while someone else would do the disciplinary and the time-outs. Maybe, Jack was indeed the Spirit Animal as predicted by her ancestors, the one whom needed her protection. Yet, he was only a boy; how was it possible that he would one day be the maker of the destruction of the two worlds...

Jack nodded vigorously and she ruffled his hair. There was something about little boys. Boys in general adored their mothers. Girls were tricky. She knew the girls loved her, but she also understood that deep down, they blamed her for their father's absence. They didn't understand her, and sometimes she didn't understand how to talk to them. Everything she said was taken as criticism, as judgement. Over the years she had learned she should never comment on anything, especially when it was related to Jack.

Nice job using the prompt.. I understand the part about how girls sometimes respond to constructive criticism differently. I have only one daughter and she was more sensitive than my two sons.
For some reason, I'm glad I've got 2 boys, though the younger ones have got a more sensitive heart compared to the older one

I had wanted to keep Jack the good one in my story, yet somehow this prompt steered me away from it.
I'll have to use another prompt to steer his character back to the light.
