Whenever you laugh, your heart rate increases and you take many deep breaths. Kinda like an intense workout, right?!

What this means is that more oxygenated blood flows through your body, improving the function of your blood vessels and helping you increase future blood circulation to protect you from a heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases.

When we give a good chuckle, our heart rate increases up to 20% and many muscles of our face and body get stretched, thus resulting in a minor form of exercise that can help us burn up to 40 calories in 15 minutes, which can amount to 4 pounds in a year.

However, before you replace today’s workout with a session of Netflix Specials, take into account that we also burn calories when we drive (120 per hour), when we’re cooking (186/hour) and even when we sleep (46/hour).

Women gauge the intelligence and attractiveness of men through their sense of humor. This can be seen in studies realized by Jeffrey Hall from Evolutionary Psychology, where he brought together 51 pairs of single college students and put each one in a room to talk for 10 minutes.

After this, the students were asked to fill out a survey, where surprising results were obtained. Out of all the couples, those in which the man made the woman laugh more times showed a higher degree of success at sparking romantic interest.
