Como siempre digo en cuanto a cosas, las cosas de antes sí que estaban realmente hechas de una manera única en la que la obsolescencia programada era absolutamente casi nula siempre y cuando uno diera un correcto mantenimiento a las cosas, pues como todo en la vida, mientras que uno cuide y tenga presente las cosas necesarias para que perduren pueden hacer que duren siglos si queremos.
Y es que un amigo es muy de tecnología y de cosas más modernas, pues de cierta manera, sí, las cosas más modernas facilitan la vida de cierta manera, pero todo tienen un límite por así decirlo, y pues algunas veces las cosas “analógicas” o “manuales” pueden ser mejor que las digitales o automáticas, ya que estas ofrecen un “no sé qué” que encanta y que dependiendo de lo que sea puede incluso hasta dar cierta precisión cuando se sabe usar que quizás una máquina moderna quizás no tiene.
Pues cuando un mi amigo le ofrecieron la posibilidad de hacer una receta como son las cachapas venezolanas (una especie de tortilla elaborada de maíz tierno dulce), este dijo que listo, que él tenía como hacerlo, y pues.. sí, si bien él tenía un molino eléctrico, la cosa no le iba a trabajar del todo bien, ya que como algunas veces puede pasar para preparar esta receta, hace falta un maíz tierno, por lo que si compras unas mazorcas algo pasadas ya pierde su encanto y pues no saben igual.
Y para la sorpresa de mi amigo, de los dos sacos que compró de maíz, uno de ellos ya estaba pasado, pero por suerte el otro sí que estaba en su punto, por lo que se decidió hacer unas cachapas y unas arepas y bollos con ello, cuando este saco su molino eléctrico su abuelo le dijo que, que era eso, que parecía una “cava” riéndose, y este le dijo que eso era un molino eléctrico que ya no había que hacer fuerza para poder moler el maíz.
A lo que cuando quisieron ponerse en marcha para hacer las cachapas, si fue útil el molino eléctrico, pero pasó algo que hizo que el abuelo tuviera razón y es que el abuelo le había dicho que esas “cosas” de ahora no son como las de antes, y que seguramente si podrían moler el maíz tierno, pero el duro, no lo iban a poder moler con ese “aparato”, y como quien tiene los años encima es quien tiene la razón, cuando intentaron moler el maíz duro, simplemente no pudo por más que le adaptaron una mayor medida, la máquina no tenía la fuerza o torque necesario para molerlo.
Por lo que el abuelo salió a decir que allá en su cocina estaba “el viejo molino” y que si querían moler el maíz, pues, rápido era con eso y no le quedo otra a mi amigo que admitir que simplemente con esa cosa “vieja” era que se podía hacer lo necesario para procesar ese maíz, y pues, que mejor y fácil manera de hacerlo que con uno de estos, por lo que algunas veces es mejor no subestimar estas cosas de antes y comprender que ciertamente las cosas de antes tenían cierta durabilidad de la cual carecen algunas cosas en la actualidad y que por algo esas “cosas viejas” siguen como si nada a día de hoy con sus años encima trabajando como el primer día.

Well, when my friend was offered the possibility of making a recipe such as the Venezuelan cachapas (a kind of tortilla made from sweet corn), he said that ready, he had how to do it, and well... yes, although he had an electric grinder, the thing was not going to work quite right, because as sometimes can happen to prepare this recipe, you need a tender corn, so if you buy some cobs a little overcooked it loses its charm and it does not taste the same.
And to my friend's surprise, of the two sacks of corn he bought, one of them was overcooked, but luckily the other one was ready, so he decided to make some cachapas and some arepas and buns with it, when he took out his electric mill his grandfather told him that it looked like a “cava” laughing, and he told him that it was an electric mill that he no longer had to use force to grind the corn.
When they wanted to start to make the cachapas, the electric mill was useful, but something happened that made the grandfather right and that is that the grandfather had told him that those “things” of nowadays are not like the ones of before, and that surely they could grind the tender corn, but the hard corn, they were not going to grind it, but the hard corn, they were not going to be able to grind it with that “device”, and as the one who has the years over is the one who is right, when they tried to grind the hard corn, they simply could not, no matter how much they adapted a larger size, the machine did not have the strength or torque necessary to grind it.
So the grandfather went out to say that there in his kitchen was “the old mill” and that if they wanted to grind the corn, well, fast was with that and my friend had no other choice but to admit that simply with that “old” thing was that they could do what was necessary to process that corn, and well, what better and easy way to do it than with one of these, so sometimes it is better not to underestimate these things of the past and understand that certainly the things of the past had a certain durability that some things lack today and that is why these “old things” continue as if nothing today with their years on top working as the first day.
