Dicen por ahí que quien no sabe es como quien no ve, y esto es algo que cobra muchísimo sentido cuando vemos lo que pueden ser las cosas en ejemplos o en casos de la vida cotidiana, y es que por ejemplo si no conoces de algo en específico y no investigas sobre esto, seguramente puedas ser objetivo de engaños o de situaciones de estafas.
Y es que por lo menos sobretodo en ciudades turísticas, encontraremos quizás el caso de lo que le paso a unos familiares hace años en una ciudad del occidente del país, estos habían viajado para conocer una ciudad de los andes venezolanos como lo es Mérida, la capital del propio estado Mérida, y al llegar al aeropuerto se dispusieron a elegir un taxi como el medio de transporte para llegar a su hotel.
Cabe acotar que esto fue hace ya unas cuantas décadas, por lo que el tema de “lo hubieran buscado en Google maps” no aplica.. y es que dieron con la mala suerte de que este taxista se aprovechó de que estos “foráneos” no conocían la ciudad y les enganchó un precio algo por arriba de lo común, por simplemente sacar provecho de ellos.
Pues ellos por su parte habían apartado habitación en dicho hotel por la cercanía con el aeropuerto, por lo que al preguntar al taxista que tan lejos estaba, este les dio una proporción incierta, pues nunca fue algo como está a dos calles bajando y otras tantas a tal sentido, sino que simplemente comentó que estaba “relativamente” cerca.
Por lo que luego de un pequeño viaje de algunos 10-15 minutos de rodar por todo el centro de la ciudad, el señor los dejó en su destino, y como era ya de noche, estos no se habían percatado del “timo”, sino hasta el otro día en el que al preguntar en recepción, se dieron cuenta de lo ocurrido y como lo que era una caminata de quizás 5-10 minutos, este taxista les hizo un mini tour y les dejo en la puerta del hotel.
Gracias a esto, es que al menos por mi parte, cuando visito o voy a lugares que no conozco, prefiero investigar bien el tema de los lugares, rutas y distancias para evitar cualquier tema de que alguien por algún desconocimiento se quiera aprovechar de uno, es algo que no quita mucho tiempo y al mismo tiempo te ayuda a conocer el área por la cual te vas a desplazar.

And is that at least especially in tourist cities, we will find perhaps the case of what happened to some relatives years ago in a city in the west of the country, they had traveled to visit a city in the Venezuelan Andes such as Merida, the capital of Merida state itself, and upon arriving at the airport they were ready to choose a cab as the means of transportation to get to their hotel.
It should be noted that this was a few decades ago, so the "they would have looked it up on Google maps" doesn't apply... and they had the bad luck that this cab driver took advantage of the fact that these "foreigners" didn't know the city and charged them a price somewhat higher than usual, just to take advantage of them.
They had booked a room at the hotel because of its proximity to the airport, so when they asked the cab driver how far it was, he gave them an uncertain ratio, since it was never something like two blocks down and another two blocks in that direction, but simply commented that it was "relatively" close.
So after a short trip of some 10-15 minutes of rolling around the city center, the gentleman left them at their destination, and as it was already night, they had not realized the "scam", until the other day when asking at reception, they realized what happened and as what was a walk of perhaps 5-10 minutes, this cab driver made them a mini tour and left them at the door of the hotel.
Thanks to this, is that at least for my part, when I visit or go to places I do not know, I prefer to investigate well the subject of places, routes and distances to avoid any issue that someone for some ignorance wants to take advantage of one, it is something that does not take much time and at the same time helps you to know the area through which you are going to move.
