In this Week 34 of the ZapFic50 Friday, with prompt "persist", I wanted to explore the workings of one's mind under pressure and the reaction. I hope my story reflected this.
@felt.buzz and the Freewriters Community bring you a new microfiction format that challenges our ability to construct as near complete a story as we can using only 50 words. The challenge starts on Fridays. It's a great opportunity over the weekend using various prompts as your guide.

The clock-out line was full even before the whistle blew.
The cheerful smiles of Daniel's co-workers for the weekend registered a twinge in his chest.
Weariness after weekly six, twelve-hour days this past year felt overwhelming.
Medical bills after his wife's diagnosis left him with no choice except to persevere.
