Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "tomorrow it would start."
...Numerous movements have to begin somewhere. It can be with a person, a single incident, several incidents over a period of time, or a worthy cause. The concepts usually result in a breakthrough of some significance. I share a micro story created by @felt.buzz called ZAPFIC100 for the prompt that is told in exactly 100 words.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt: Day 2003: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday - Prompt: tomorrow it would start.
Below is my story:
Gabriel strode swiftly ahead cutting a path through the brush. Muriel sped up to match her brother's gait.
She took deep breaths, pacing each as she lumbered forward. She realized her training paid off.
"What does your smell reveal lies beyond the wall?" Gabriel pointed ahead.
"I don't see anything. How do you...?"
Impatient, Gabriel interrupted. "Training. Night vision is essential to this jungle's survival."
Muriel secretly trained for two years. But she'd never be on equal standing with the Raven Battalion.
Watchers didn't accept women.
Gabriel swore on his sword two were worthy.
Tomorrow it would start with Muriel.
