Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "fresh corpse".
...When we speak of the words "fresh corpse", we think of either animals or individuals who have recently been deceased. I want to share a micro story related to the prompt that is in the format of a ZAPFIC100. This format was created by @felt.buzz.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2077: fresh corpse.
Below is my story:
Gerald slowed, suspicions mounting. Quickly, he turned his back toward the hunting party.
The sun's slanting rays cast a shadow on the fresh corpse that lay ahead in a mangled heap. Inching closer, he stooped and lifted protruding horns from under the carcass.
He glanced in the direction of nearby thickets. Crimson footprints, double that of the suspected predator, moved in tandem, creating a deep imprint in the moist soil.
This companion brandished a human weapon. The devoured animal stood no chance.
Gerald froze as ghoulish howls rushed forward.
A double threat.
He turned, signaled, then all bolted toward safety.

A continuación mi historia.
La huella del depredador
Gerald aminoró la marcha, sus sospechas iban en aumento. Rápidamente, dio la espalda a la partida de caza.
Los rayos del sol proyectaban una sombra sobre el cadáver fresco que yacía delante en un montón destrozado. Acercándose, se agachó y levantó los cuernos que sobresalían de debajo del cadáver.
Miró en dirección a los matorrales cercanos. Unas huellas carmesíes, el doble que las del presunto depredador, se movían en tándem, creando una profunda huella en el suelo húmedo.
Este compañero blandía un arma humana. El devorado animal no tenía ninguna posibilidad.
Gerald se quedó helado cuando unos aullidos macabros se abalanzaron sobre él.
Una doble amenaza.
Se giró, hizo una señal y todos salieron corriendo hacia un lugar seguro.
