Moving into a new place and neighbourhood is a lot of work that Cecil Brown frowns at very much. In this instant, she does not have a choice because her husband's work requires him to change location and residence every six months or if she's lucky, once a year.

As the movers pull right behind their 2012 Ford Focus SE Sedan, Cecil is sure she glimpse some curtains pull a little sideways and faces peeking at them. She sighs and mutters, "Okay, let's get this over with."

"Chin up, dear. You will love this place," Adam, her husband consoles her.

The movers join them in taking their things into the house. After the movers leave, the couple gets busy decorating the house, hanging their expensive artworks when the doorbell rings.

"Who could that be?" Cecil asks, her mouth pouts in a sulk. Adam chuckles at her expression. He pulls her into his arms, gently swipes off a smudge of dirt on her face and taps her nose lightly.

"You look delightful when you pout but the neighbours will not think so," he says before pecking her on the cheek.

"You sure it's them?"

"Doubly sure. They peeked through their curtains to watch us when we arrived. Now they are here to say hello and size up our house as against theirs."

Cecil grumbles, "Well, that's what you get for moving into the richest neighbourhood in the city."

Adam stretches out his palm and winks at his wife. "Let's show them a little of our wealth, shall we?" Cecil places her small hand in his and they walk towards the door to answer it.

Ooops. Showed a little wealth by putting hands in each others. That's what we see all around social media. People portray they are wealthier and happier

Hehe. And not only social media, in real life too. Thanks for reading and for your comment. 😊

Hello @kemmyb. A delightful story of mischief. I have a feeling the couple has had to prove their worth to other communities. No matter the location, there will be those who judge on outward appearances and show of wealth.

Getting to know a person takes more time than the couple probably has in any given location because of the job move of the husband.

Thanks for your story that shows the couple knows what they're up against. It's their attitude that helps them to keep positive.

Take care.

No matter the location, there will be those who judge on outward appearances and show of wealth.

You are absolutely right. This happens in almost every neighbourhood, whether a rich or poor one. Everyone wants to know each other's status. It bores down to our vanity! 😅

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I wish you an amazing 2022. 🙂

@kemmyb. Nice piece you have here.

"Let's show them a little of our wealth" is it wealth in terms of finance or happiness?

Hey Shadess! It's more like financial wealth because it can be seen and measured.
Thanks for your visit. 🙂

I really wouldn't mind relocating every now and then. I like to experience new places..... Sorry Cecil doesn't feel the same way😆

Hahaha! Cecil has had it tough —moving every 6 months. That's crazy and will definitely make me pout too! 😅
Thanks for reading.

Moving to new places meeting new people is good but each time it takes a lot of time and efforts to get settled at a new place. In the last 6 years of my life I have changed 4 locations 😄😄

Nice one dear, enjoyed it. 😄
Hope 2022 is going well for you 😊😊

My dear Preets, it's never easy to move from one location to another. It's a lot of work!
I appreciate your visit and kind comment. Thanks! 🤗

When my dad was alive, we stayed in such neighborhood, where people would come around to check what you've got. Especially if you just moved in.

"You look delightful when you pout but the neighbours will not think so,"

I love this statement. It sounds like what I'd say. 😀

What a way to pass a message.

@kemmyb you are good and I've been admiring that from day one.

I love this statement. It sounds like what I'd say. 😀

Really? Hehehe, I was painting the husband in this scene as an understanding and tactful man... Good to know gentlemen like you still exist!

Curiosity is one of humans' flaw... Almost in every neighbourhood, everyone is curious about the other! Thanks for reading. 🙂

Really?

Yeah. It reminds me of a banter I had with my mum recently. I asked her for something. She replied with a slight frown saying "don't ask me for anything. I'm attending to people"

"Mum are those people more important than your lovely son?" I retorted.

We both burst into laughing. I tactfully took the frown away.

Hehehe, I was painting the husband in this scene as an understanding and tactful man...

I saw through it.

Good to know gentlemen like you still exist!

I don't know about others, but I can boldly say, I'm that kind of person. 😀
