Fell Dragon Book 8 Part 39

in Freewriterslast year (edited)

Hi all

What's the chance that Doran can save Saita's life? I guess you'll need to read further to find out.

Doran felt claustrophobic as he walked through the corridors. He couldn’t see the walls, but he felt them all around him. Walking beside the massive Wolven didn’t exactly allow him much room either. Around him, he could see into different times and universes. Some places he recognised, but others were so alien, that he had no idea what he was looking at.

The Wolven looked exhausted and was eventually plodding on all fours next to the human. Growing wearier with each step that he took. Doran, desperate to get Saita the help he knew she would need, held his right arm out to the Wolven.
“What?” asked the creature.

“You have been captive for weeks, and haven’t eaten. Take some of my energy.”

“I’d like to die in peace.” Said the beast as he swung his head away from the offered arm.

“Do that after I rescue the girl.”

The Wolven still refused and on they plodded until Red-Eye stopped and turned to face one of the times. He tilted his head for a second, as if listening, and then turned back to Doran.

“Fine.”

The exchange was quick, and those Doran felt a little winded, the beast was back to walking on his hind legs. He seemed to be moving with some urgency now, and Doran was struggling to keep up.

“We must hurry.”

“You gutted me, I am still recovering.”

Without a word, Red-Eye sunk to the ground and indicated that Doran should get onto his back. While Doran complied, it was difficult to hang onto the beast as he ran through the corridors. The human ducked down, hoping to keep a grip on the slick fur, only to be thrown from the creature as he skidded to a halt.

Pain echoed through the human as he landed and slid across the floor. He would have yelled at the Wolven if it wasn’t for the fact that his body had slid right between a group of Heavenly. They seemed just as surprised at seeing him, as he was at seeing them. He immediately recognised Matta and what appeared to be a much younger Shareik. The two of them seemed to be arguing, but that stopped when they noticed him.

Matta bent down to pull Doran to his feet before saying, “The fact that he is here proves it.”

“No, it doesn’t. Why did you manipulate the cage?”

Doran wanted to get a straight answer, but Red-Eye came to stand in front of Shareik and growled.

“I ate you. How are you alive!”

Shareik brushed him off and continued to look at Matta. “Do you understand what you have done?”

“I only did as you instructed me. You knew what was coming and so I did as was ordered of me.”

“With no Fell Dragon, we cease to exist.”

“And maybe we should!” yelled Matta. “You gave her no chance, no option. Is that what you did to the one before her? Locked her up like an animal with no way to get out?”

Shareik scoffed and said, “She had a favour, she could have used it.”

“How when you never went to the cage?”

Shareik scoffed again and looked to the room off to his left, Doran’s right. He frowned and then spoke, “You realise that she will die now. She can’t be integrated as you somehow managed to integrate her already without a body.”

Doran’s head snapped toward the room that seemed to only have a steel platform and upon it was a body. He knew it was Saita. He pulled out the favour from his pocket and threw it at Shareik’s feet.

“Free the Fell Dragon.” He said.

Shareik looked at the paper before picking it up. He opened it, careful to avoid the bloody fingerprint on it. He shook his head and said, “You aren’t the owner of this favour. You can’t just claim it as you wish.”

“It was given to me. The blood speaks volumes.”

“Do you even understand what freeing a Fell Dragon means? They were all created for a reason, and this one is something special…”

“And is tainted.”

Red-Eye’s ears perked up. The human had told him that his mistress was dead, but he had heard her speak. Out of the room strode the Fell Dragon with a grin on her face. The Heavenly all fell back with a look of shocked disbelief on their faces. She snatched away the favour from Shareik and said, “This time you are before me.”

And the Fell Dragon is back! You didn't think we'd be rid of her so soon, did you?
