The sun, very much in love
Invited the moon one day
To walk across the plain
Land of my soul,
The moon was delighted
To have him for company,
It's no secret to anyone
That they are fond of each other.
He combed his long hair
Singing with joy,
And on a sheet of paper
He wrote her a poem,
You have been my great love
Without you I would die,
And if you love me the same
I'd marry you.
She stood in front of the mirror
And she looked very pretty,
It was a radiant moon
Full of coquetry,
She painted her lips red
As the evening fell,
And the ticking of her watch
Made her more nervous.
She reached for a silver dress
That would fit her silhouette,
A pair of white slippers
That the sun would love,
The moon was beautiful
Her date she would not miss,
But when she finally arrived
The sun was gone.
On the other side of the world
The sun was suffering for her,
The bouquet she had carried
Would soon wither,
Her shattered heart
She could no longer endure the agony
And amidst sticks of brandy
He swore he would get drunk.
