Había tenido que salir de imprevisto de su pequeño pueblo para encontrarse con su prima que al día siguiente debía emprender un viaje a otro país.
Mientras se acercaba a su destino recordó todas las vacaciones que su prima la visitaba en el pueblo, ella por su parte siempre postergó pasar unos días con su prima en la ciudad.
Se bajó nerviosa en aquel terminal lleno de gente, mucha gente, aquello la incomodaba, y ma aún que ya había comenzado a oscurecer.
Trato de darse ánimos, al fin y al cabo solo debía hacer una simple llamada para avisarle a su prima que ya estaba en el terminal; fue justo en ese instante que se apagaron todas las luces del terminal y también de la cuidad, se produjo un apagón general debido a una falla eléctrica.
Su corazón comenzó a latir con fuerza y se apresuro a sacar el celular del bolso, lo había colocado en el bolsillo interno, pero, ¡no estaba!.
Un frío recorrió su espalda, le habían robado el celular, ahora no tenía como llamar a su prima, casi se desmaya al darse cuenta que no se sabía de memoria el número de teléfono de su prima y además estaba sola, de noche y sin luz en una cuidad enorme que no conocía.
No pudo contener el llanto, no tenía forma de comunicarse con su prima, volvió a revisar su bolso y recordó que había escrito un pequeño directorio con números de teléfonos en una hoja de papel, entre ellos el número de su prima, y allí estaba, esa simple hoja de papel como un salvavidas en medio del mar.
Respiró profundo, y a su lado pudo ver a dos chicas que se veían tan asustadas como ella, vio que en sus manos llevaban unos bolsos de dónde sobresalían unas revistas muy conocidas por la distribución especial que hacen con las mismas, esto le inspiro confianza pues había hablado muchas veces con quiénes las distribuyen en su pueblo, ella cruzaron miradas y se animó a contarles su situación, de inmediato le respondieron que les diera el número para llamar a su prima.
Nunca antes, un trozo de papel y unas revistas cobraron tanta importancia en su vida.

She could not hold back the tears, she had no way to communicate with her cousin, she went back to check her purse and remembered that she had written a small directory with phone numbers on a piece of paper, among them her cousin's number, and there it was, that simple piece of paper like a life preserver in the middle of the sea.
She took a deep breath, and next to her she could see two girls who looked as scared as she was, she saw that in their hands they were carrying some bags from which stood out some magazines well known for the special distribution they do with them, this inspired her confidence because she had spoken many times with those who distribute them in her town, she crossed glances and was encouraged to tell them her situation, they immediately answered her to give them the number to call her cousin.
Never before had a piece of paper and a few magazines become so important in her life.
