Back for another week of mystery...
Day 2012: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: insulation
It surprised her that he began installing the insulation himself. For the past 10 years they had been married, her husband had never struck her to be a man of action -- mostly doing the all the planning instead, the man behind the desk and always on the phone, so it came as a pleasant surprise to her to see him taking the initiative now.
Granted she had voiced out before on planning to have their home renovated for such due to the ever changing weather conditions, she'd mostly thought he'd have hired crew instead to handle all the heavy-lifting that would be involved in the process. After all, anything to do with construction wasn't exactly her husband's area of expertise.
And to prove her point, she had almost obsessively stared at a wayward rope exposed from the walls, her husband must've failed to notice it sticking out after he had secured the wallpaper and all.
In an effort to be proactive herself, she held the end of the rope and pulled and watched in horror as the wall crumbled enough to reveal a macabre display. There stuck into the foundations were rows and rows of what looked like... ears.
