Into The Distance

in Freewriters28 days ago

A hall of black marble and fragrant incense burning and God Karnik sitting motionless on his throne. At first glance, there was no emotion on his face, but when Maluhia, his lover, stepped forward, he could see the sadness in his eyes.
"Karnik, I'm back from my trip."

He bowed to him. Then he looked around and when he got sure that no one was nearby, he went to him, sat on the floor in front of him and took his hands in his own.
"Seeing you in this state was so painful for me that I decided to leave this country for a while to change my mood. But wherever I went, you were in my mind. Everything I saw reminded me of you. "

Tears gathered in his eyes and he squeezed Karnik's hands.
"Remember, you told me back then that you were doing this of your own free will. But now I see the sadness in your eyes. If you don't want to continue like this, all you have to do is get up from this throne and run away with me."

Karnik's hand muscles tensed and his eyelids trembled. Maluhia stood up and placed his hands on either side of Karnik's face.
"Come, let's go away together. We'll go to a far land, where no one can touch us. You'll walk again, you'll run, you'll eat, you'll sleep, you'll swim and you'll laugh and you will no longer have to live a vegetarian life.."

Tears gathered in Karnik's eyes and his lips trembled. He opened his mouth to say something, but his vocal cords didn't work because he hadn't used them in a long time. So he just stood up and while the determination was evident on his face, he nodded his head in a positive sign to Maluhia.

Malohia smiled happily and hugged him and then took his hand and together they walked towards the exit, but at that moment the monk Gabor entered and fixed his fiery gaze on them.
"Breaking the divine laws for the sake of ego and lust?"

Maluhia:
"Monk Gabor, please let us go. Didn't your heart ache when you saw Karnik in that painful state?"

Gabor:
"He was sacrificing for his people and the pain he was suffering was sacred, but you deceived him with your evil temptations."

Karnik's face was contorted and he uttered unintelligible sounds. Gabor took out his wand and pointed it at them.
"You'd better surrender. Maluhia, your powers are not on my level and Karnik's powers are spellbound and he cannot use them without the approval of the monks."

Maluhia ignored his words and pulled out his wand and prepared to fight, but Karnik put his hand on his arm and shook his head in denial. Maluhya gave him a reassuring smile and said:
"Don't worry, I'm no longer the weak wizard I once was. I met an ancient master during my travel and he taught me how to perform the most special spells."

Karnick decided to trust him and withdrew his hand, but his heart was crumpling with worry. Gabor and Maluhia began their fight and sent powerful spells at each other, so that the walls of the temple hall were destroyed and fell down in no time.

During this time, Karnik had put his hands on his chest in prayer and thought to himself that he wished Maluhya would never return from his trip and would forget him and thus not put himself in danger.

It took some time before Gabor finally made a deep gash in Maluhia's stomach and Maluhia landed on his knees with his hand pressed against his stomach to keep his intestines from spilling out.

Karnik ran to him and sat down beside him and put his hand on his bloody stomach. Gabor came to them and said:
"Karnik, if you really loved him, you wouldn't have let him fight me. But because you selfishly only thought about your own freedom, this happened."

Karnik turned his face towards him and Gabor was surprised to see his face, because instead of the helplessness of a few moments ago, a cold and strong expression was visible on it.

Karnik:
"Yes, Gabor, I'm really selfish. I want freedom, love and being a god, all together."

And a ray came out of his hand and closed Maluhia's stomach wound. Gabor's eyes widened in surprise and he said:
"How did you manage to use your power? It's impossible."

Karnick chuckled.
"Isn't the work of a god turning the impossible into the possible?"

And then he got up and continued:
"Gabor, I feel like a forgiving god today. So I won't hurt you and let you go."

Gabor swallowed and quickly left the place. Maluhia and Karnik also took each other's hands and as they smiled, they left the temple and went into the distance.
