Meeting After A Hundred Years

in Freewriters25 days ago

Elf Lauritz, holding his suitcase, looked at the empty train that was moving away from him and suddenly regretted coming there.
"How can I face Karsten after what I did to him?"

He remembered how he had imprisoned him in the basement of his mansion for years and had put his property in his own name and had turned his people into his slaves.

He was in these thoughts that he heard the guard's voice saying to him:
"Sir, I beg your pardon, you must leave the railway. It will be closed soon for some repairs."

Lauritz nodded his head in approval.
"Oh, yes. I'll go now."

And he went to the exit and took a taxi and took himself to a hotel and sat in the lobby waiting for one of the rooms to get empty.
"There are still as many tourists coming here as before."

And he remembered the happy memories he had with Karsten. How they went to the lake in the evenings and swam in the cool water there, and how Karsten took him to crowded parties at night, and Lauritz, who was not a social elf at all, quickly passed through the guests and hid himself in one of the rooms on the upper floors.

A servant came and took Lauritz's suitcase to take it to his room, and Lauritz decided to visit the lake and the party halls to relive the past more in his mind.

He walked on the shore of the lake and looked at the tourists who were sunbathing or swimming in the water, and felt that he saw himself and Karsten among them for a moment.

Then he went to the party halls and walked among their empty seats and heard the music in his mind and saw Karsten coming towards him and inviting him to dance with him.

They were having a happy time until their land went into recession and happiness gave way to sadness and the relationship between Lauritz and Karsten gradually turned cold, because Lauritz thought that Karsten was causing financial problems there, and that he was not able to manage the situation well.

And this was how he faked his death and took over the administration of affairs himself and made people work hard so that the land would prosper again and tourists would return to it.

His work paid off, of course, at the cost of Karsten and people hating him. Now a hundred years had passed since that incident and Lauritz had returned there with a disguised face to see his old love, Karsten and ask for his forgiveness.
"I am a coward. I should not have changed my face and asked Karsten to visit me at the hotel. I should have gone to his house with my own face and then appeared in public and asked for everyone's forgiveness. "

At that moment, someone passed in front of him, and when Lauritz saw him, his heart sank in his chest. He was Karsten who was going to the hotel. Lauritz was so excited that he forgot his previous hesitation about meeting him and ran to him and called him.
"Karsten!"

Karsten stopped and turned around to see a strange elf looking at him with teary eyes. He went to him and said:
"Lauritz, is it you?"

Tears flowed down Lauritz's cheeks and he answered sobbing:
"Yes, It's me."

Karsten's eyes also filled with tears and he wrapped his arms around Lauritz and hugged him tightly.
"My love."
