Sapien Loop Short Stories

Both Sapien Loop books contain a plethora of main characters with varying and significant backstories and arcs that greatly affect the main story. However, it is impossible to explore all these characters, their backstories, and their motivations within the main story itself. There are also several plotlines that cannot be explored in depth within the main story either. Therefore, I have written several short stories.

These short stories explore the story of certain key characters such as August, Maskameera, Eugene, Lily (G.O.A.T.), Polly, Sanguine, and Miro.

August and Maskameera’s stories are barely covered, as they have played their various personas to manipulate events, which was only revealed at the end of book two.

At the end of book one, Lily revealed she was Sapien and not Linap. How she managed to infiltrate the Linap was not explored in book two.

Polly was presumed dead after the vehicle she was in crashed into the outer wall. She reappeared in book two, but there was no scope to explain how she survived and how she became a cyborg.

Miro is a main character for the underground Linap, but his background was not explored in book two, and there is no scope to cover it in any detail in the third book.

These short stories also explore certain important subplot lines such as the beginning of the twelfth loop, the creation of the Downs Region, the rebellion in the North, the propaganda support for Tiberius, the structure, economy, and politics of the underground world, and the origin of the Cellrebrum Rehabilitation Centre.

Book one vaguely makes reference to the defeat of the Sentray but does not explain how such a feat could have been achieved. There is no scope for this in the main story, but it is important, as it is relevant to how the Sentray or others with their DNA could be defeated in the third book.

Downs is a unique region, as it has been reserved for disabled Sapiens (Trisomy-21). How this region came about is an important subplot to the moral aspect of the series.

The Twelfth Loop Begins (Part One)

The rise and fall of civilisations in Sapey occurs in loops. The story in the Sapien Loop series is based on the twelfth loop. This story explains how the twelfth begins.

The Twelfth Loop Begins (Part Two)

The Sentray were on the verge of wiping out the Linap. In a desperate attempt to save themselves, the Linap lure the Sentray into the mountains, where they planned to poison them. This marked a key turning point, which led to the Linap’s eventual victory over the Sentray and the start of the twelfth loop.

The Chief in the North (Part One)

The rebellion in the North marked one of the most violent periods in Sapey’s history. Out of these horrors emerged the character Sanguine. His anger and pain turned to hatred, which made him one of the most dangerous characters in the Sapien Loop story.

The Chief in the North (Part Two)

Locum Alset, the richest and most intelligent Linap alive at the time, raised Sanguine. Sanguine was incredibly smart, and he learnt much from Locum. When his family was attacked and one of his twin boys was killed, Sanguine’s hatred was reignited. He used his aggression, intelligence, and cunning to exact revenge on those who harmed his family.

The Chief in the North (Part Three)

Sanguine’s hatred began to mellow a little, but much of it he had passed on to the surviving twin, Tiberius. Tiberius hated everyone; his hatred grew when he found out his twin brother was actually alive and intended to replace him. Tiberius violently killed his twin. This marked the beginning of the evil he was about to unleash on Sapey.

Let Me Entertain You (Part One)

After Tiberius became governor of the Capital District/Sapey, Sanguine immediately went to work protecting Tiberius’ image. He observed the success James Yensid had promoting his entertainer leaders, and he wanted to emulate that for Tiberius.

Let Me Entertain You (Part Two)

The assembled entertainment action team went to work promoting themselves, their product, Tiberius/Sanguine’s policies, and discrediting their only opponents, the House of Divine Knowledge.

The Bramley Gene (Part One)

The Linap created the Sapiens as a subservient species. The ability to shapeshift was not bred into them, but some of them had this ability anyway. This ability came from something known as the Bramley gene.

The Bramley Gene (Part Two)

The new Linap were a sickly species. The only way to restore the health of the next generation was through back-breeding. However, the new Linap elites strongly opposed such a move, as they believed it tainted their species. A few Linap were back-bred, but they were forced into hiding. To survive, they hid among the new Sapien species. The back-bred Linap’s genes and the Sapiens’ genes became mixed, thus giving some Sapiens the ability to shapeshift.

Down But Not Out (Part One)

The Downs Region was the only region remaining after the Sentray attack. The Downs Region was also unique, as it was a region dedicated to disabled Sapiens, most with the Trisomy-21 genetic abnormality. How did such a region come about, and how did it succeed?

Down But Not Out (Part Two)

The Sapiens diagnosed with Trisomy-21 were in grave danger. Maskameera Wolf wanted them to be prenatally terminated. She tried to create the impression they were a burden or even dangerous. This led to attacks on them. They finally found safety in a region created just for them.

Just Another Day in the Economic Institute

The Economic Institute was one of the five pillars of power, along with the Government, Media, Business Sector, and the House of Divine Knowledge. Its main role was to guide and stabilise the economy. However, the influence of the Economic Institute went much deeper.

The G.O.A.T. (Part One)

Lily was the most famous and possibly the most influential governor in the history of Sapey. The most amazing part of this was that she was not even a Linap. How was this possible?

The G.O.A.T. (Part Two)

Lily and her sister Milly were born with the amazing gift of shapeshifting. They could become invisible or take on the form of someone else. This was a gift they were not supposed to have. Lily and Milly were able to activate the Bramley gene passed on from interbreeding from a thousand years prior. This put them both in grave danger.

The G.O.A.T. (Part Three)

A Linap couple adopted Lily and Milly. They raised them as Linap, and they helped them enhance their natural ability to shapeshift. Lily was ambitious and wanted to become a governor. She went to the House of Divine Knowledge in the West Region. Lily earned the trust, respect and support of the Head Philosopher. This enabled Lily to run as a candidate in the general election and eventually become a governor.

Welcome to Cellrebrum

The Cellrebrum Rehabilitation Centre was a technological marvel designed to reform and rehabilitate convicted criminals. However, Pardi Carvaress turned it into something far more sinister.

The Special Enforcer (Part One)

Eugene was the special Head Enforcer of the Downs Region. How did he go from a struggling student in the Phoenix Region to one of the most accomplished Head Enforcers in Sapey?

The Special Enforcer (Part Two)

After scaring the governor from Phoenix, Eugene was given a place in the Cellrebrum enforcer training programme. He found himself at a physical disadvantage. That did not faze him. He worked extra hard and worked his way to the top of the class.

The Special Enforcer (Part Three)

The top two recruits in the programme were Eugene and Arville. They were down to the final challenge. This was a virtual case murder. Arville became overly aggressive and actually aided the murderer. Eugene was now fighting two murders.

Polly (Part One)

Polly was involved in a high-speed vehicle crash that appeared to have killed her. However, she reappeared in the second book. This story explains how she went from near death to a cyborg.

Polly (Part Two)

After extensive surgery and receiving robotic replacements to limbs and even part of her face, Polly was transferred to the Lake Region. Polly had the Jennifer chip placed in her head, which allowed Jennifer to take control over her whenever she felt the need. When the Sentray attacked the Lake Region, Polly was temporarily shut down.

Hamlet to the Rescue (Part One)

After the Sentray destroyed most of Sapey, the giant slaughterhouses in the Central Agricultural Zone were left abandoned. If left, the Sapes inside would be killed. Hamlet and her friends headed as soon as possible to rescue them. This rescue was mentioned but not explained in the epilogue of the first book.

Hamlet to the Rescue (Part Two)

The rescue was difficult and in many ways heartbreaking as so many Sapes had been killed. Altogether, they managed to save over 100,000 Sapes. They also discovered several huge silos containing various types of grain, which would prove invaluable to making food for the survivors.

Life Underground (Part One)

In the main story, very little has been revealed about the underground Linap. This story explains a little about the journey of those living underground. It also describes how Tiberius made it to a pod.

Life Underground (Part Two)

Initially, the Alset family ruled the underground world. However, over a thousand years, things can change. The populations vastly expanded. All the underground cities became fully populated. Each underground city desired their own leaders. This fractured the Alset family, and tensions rose between them and the technicians. The Alset family managed to regain control of most of the underground, but one city still resisted them.

RJ's First Pie and Ice Cream Blog

RJ’s request for a new fridge-freezer was one of the final triggers that drove Pardi to take down the Government. RJ used the new large fridge-freezer to hide from the Sentray when they attacked his region. He was then rescued and taken to the Downs Region. That is all we know about him. This post contains the popular blog that launched RJ into fame/infamy. This is important, as RJ will become a more pivotal character in the final book.

The Sapien Loop Series

Loop_Series.gif

I am writing a trilogy of books titled Sapien Loop. The first in the series is Sapien Loop: End of an Era and the second is Sapien Loop: Frozen in Time. I published both of these books as ebooks on Amazon, and I have posted completed chapters to my @captainhive account. I anticipate publishing the third book in early 2027. I expect to title this book Sapien Loop: Worlds Collide. In 2025, I plan to write short stories about some of the characters and their adventures. I will post these to my @captainhive over the course of the year.

Brief Summary of Sapien Loop: End of an Era

Sapien_Loop_Full_Hive.gif

This story is based on the fictional planet Sapia and its sole country, Sapey. Sapey is portrayed as a form of utopia for all its citizens. No poverty. No war. Almost no crime. Opportunities for all.

This was enough for most citizens, but not all. In one of the small regions, some of the citizens had become discontent. They felt something important was missing in their lives. Their discontent did not go unnoticed. Some of the Sapey elite wanted to weaponise this discontent to gain more power. This created more chaos than they anticipated. This led to further widespread social unrest.

On top of the chaos, ambition and greed provoked another enemy. This enemy was on a mission to settle both new and old scores.

Brief Summary of Sapien Loop: Frozen in Time

Sapien_Loop_2.gif

This story is based six years after the original story. The Downs Region is still suffering from a serious health crisis caused by the contaminated water. The main characters are desperately trying to find a cure for the illness that has been caused by the water.

One of the main characters has discovered frozen humanoids in hidden chambers. It appears they have been frozen for a long time. These chambers connect to a vast network of tunnels. While exploring the tunnels, one of the frozen humanoids disappears. It appears he has been stolen.

The story takes a step back in time to tell the story of the frozen humanoids. How and why were they frozen? This part of the story also explains the fall of ancient Sapey and the birth of the Sapiens. Can those from the past be able to coexist with those from the present?

Oh wow, incredible stories. I was vaguely aware of you writing this book only a few months ago and now it's completed and a new one is underway! Reading this post has stimulated my mind to dig into the story, the overview is very interesting with lots of intricate complexities, which is mostly the type of books I always like to read. Will check out the captainhive account and start reading the story.

There are 12 stories in this collection. Most are broken down into 2 parts.

You don't need to go to the account to read them. You can access them directly from this post. This way is quicker.

Yes, I understand it better after looking at the collections page on Peakd. Had to scroll quite a bit on the captainhive account to reach chapter 1. Thanks!
