We have sacrificed some of our humanity to all these machines that separate us from the world. I'm not saying we should go back to horses, but hurtling around in our metal boxes is not healthy. For the last few years I've been doing a short train journey to work and I'm so much happier after decades of driving several hours each day. Sometimes the trains are messed up, but I can live with that.
Oh and people who abuse animals should be locked up.
Good for you :) I used some of my own aversions towards cars in this, but I was mainly interested in our morals - that we navigate intellectually by these ideas while we often live by completely different rules and habits. I just wrote ahead and slowly the personality of both the man with the horse story and the narrator who can't help interfering in his own story showed themselves. But I went back and edited quite a lot afterwards this time.
The last horrific story with the horse that is beaten so it's losing its eye is from a family story back at the time of the war.t
