Roger was irritated since he had been hiking for several hours and still hadn't arrived at his destination. He'd chatted with a few other hikers, but everyone said the same thing: the goalpost is just over the mountain.

He initially followed what the hikers stated and simply walked the mountain in front of him. Despite this, not even the shadow of the goalpost can be seen after climbing the peak.

"Did the hiker I spoke with earlier lie to me?" Roger pondered.

Roger was lost in concentration when he noticed another hiker and asked for directions.

"It's just over the mountain," the hiker remarked, pointing to another.

Roger couldn't help but curse when he saw how high the mountain he had to climb. Roger began ascending the mountain after thanking the hiker.

"Where is the goalpost?" Roger muttered to himself as he surveyed the surroundings. "Was I given the wrong direction once more?"

While Roger was fuming, he noticed another hiker approaching towards him. Keeping his temper in check, he approached the hiker and asked for directions.

"Can you tell me how to get to the goalpost?" Roger got things started. "I've been hiking for hours and still haven't seen the goalpost."

"Every time I asked another hiker, they always told me that the goal was just over the mountain," he continued. "But there's still no goalpost after crossing two mountains."

The hiker laughed after realizing what had transpired. "That's very typical. The goalposts are still a long way away." He clarified.

Roger grew enraged when he learned that there was still a long way to go, believing that the two other hikers he had previously questioned had lied to him. But before he could vent his rage, the hiker spoke up once more.

"The other two hikers you spoke with earlier did not tell you lies. The goalpost is certainly over the mountain, but because this is a mountain chain, you will need to cross numerous additional mountains!"

The hiker went away, chuckling, leaving Roger with his jaw slack.
