Typically, when I leave a company, I'll create a handoff document for my replacement and do some training if necessary. The White House has a tradition of outgoing presidents leaving a handwritten note on the Oval Office desk for the incoming president. The note usually contains a few words about the challenges, rewards, and difficulties of being president, or wishes for success.

I wish my country had a good tradition like that, because even if you're on the other side of the aisle, as president of the country, you're going to be of one mind when it comes to serving the people and serving the country.
