Her mother taught her well.
Keeping silent. Never voicing out. Protecting your predator, Finding excuses for them. Believing she's not a victim and this is a normal life.
Her mother taught her all.
When her father comes back home drunk and the food is not ready, he pummells her with punches till she's not able to move.
The next morning, she takes her make up and hide her bruises. Sometimes she calls Sika to her assist her with the make up.
When Sika asks why her father was always beating her, she tells her it's not his fault. He didn't mean to, he was drunk.
Sika's mother beared this horrible life until she died. Internal bleeding they called it.
Sika was a witness to that final beating that took her mother, he had dropped her from the third floor.
The family got together and there was no case. "Who will take care of Sika if you send her Monster of a father to jail?"
Everyone agreed.
Sika family members taught her well.
You don't arrest your loved ones even if they are monsters and can kill you.
It's twenty years later.
Sika lay on the floor groaning in pain. She was pregnant and her husband had just beaten her to a pulp because he claimed she came back late from the market, she must have gone to see another man, he screamed before the beating started.
Left in pain, Sika thought about all the pains she had endured in her marriage, this pain was different and excruciating.
"Is she going to die now," she thought.
Sika closed her eyes and prayed.
"If God could send her a helper at this moment, she will treasure her life and baby's."
"So one more chance God!"
She fainted.
Domestic violence is rampant in our society and it's time more women speak up. Speak up and be safe! Your life matters.
