Justice with equality

The Emperor of China asked its most famous sage, Lao Tzu, to assume the position of chief justice, but the latter apologized, claiming that he was not qualified for this task..!
However, the Emperor insisted, as he saw Al-Hakim’s refusal of this high position as a form of humility.
Al-Hakim submitted to the will of the Emperor, and in his first court session, he was convicted of a theft crime, where a rich man claimed that his money had been stolen by a poor man, so he sentenced the two to imprisonment for a month...!
The rich man became mad and asked the wise man for clarification. He said to him: We judged the thief because the theft was proven to us, and we judged you because you collected much more money than you needed because of your greed and covetousness, which led to an increase in the spread of poverty. So the rich man had no choice but to go to the emperor and explain to him. What happened in the ruling order, he added:
This wise man speaks the truth, but he poses a danger to all of us. I suggest that he be removed from his position immediately, and then the Emperor felt his danger to everyone, so he removed him immediately.
