This story was inspired by the recent movie the thursday murder club..Mark and Damon were convinced they were destined for greatness, not because they were top of the class but because they had read every comic about Inspector gadget, the fictional genius detective who solved crimes with cool gadgets made from everyday objects. So one Saturday afternoon, beneath the guava tree in Damons compound, they formed the Amateur Detective Club. They wrote the name on a torn cardboard and pinned it to their shirts. Mark became “Lead Detective.” Mark, who had neater handwriting, became the “forensic Analyst.” Their first cases were nothing extraordinary finding Mrs. Marys missing slippers (her goat dragged them away), locating the owner of a crying puppy (the neighbor’s daughter), and exposing the truth behind the mysterious “night monster,” which turned out to be Uncle Jack wearing a mosquito net while snoring loudly. Their parents laughed at their “serious faces.” Mark’s older brother teased them, saying, “Detectives without bicycles .How will you chase criminals, on foot?” They didn’t care. Every solved mystery made them feel like heroes. Then came the case they didn’t expect.It started with a small brown notebook. Damon found it on the ground near the football field. It had no name, just scribbles and drawings of boxes, arrows, and numbers. Mark said it looked like “secret codes.” Damon agreed. They examined it under the guava tree(it had become their office), wearing their “serious detective expressions.” That evening, as they copied the drawings into a new notebook, Damon noticed something odd. One drawing looked exactly like the back of Mr. Burrows' old warehouse near the market, tilted roof, and a big X drawn beside it and a crucifix beside. The numbers next to it looked like dates. One of them was today’s date. Their hearts pounded with comic-book excitement. Were they about to witness a secret mission? A robbery? An Alien invasion?............ To be continued,....... maybe.
