A Blank Verse Before the Red Vote
(Stanza I: The Greeting of Peace)
I offer you my greeting
even though the vote is negative,
without seeking any reason
nor being stubborn.
Before this thorny gesture,
I respond with kindness,
with complete sincerity
I wish you blessings,
that you may have more than enough reasons
to live happily.
(Stanza II: The Question)
From the north where I am,
I see your name on my ballot,
and although the red vote appears,
I always go with white.
I want to ask you today,
what offends you about my life?
If my happiness is shared
and does not seek to harm you,
why the fatal vote
that invites us to the shadows?
(Stanza III: The Wish for Prosperity)
For you, my good friend,
I send light to your path,
a companion's embrace
to soften the rigidity.
May there be peace and warmth
on your Venezuelan soil,
this brother tells you
without resentment and with appreciation,
that courage is priceless
when a helping hand is offered.
