The Show

The Show

It's a funny show,
we're all in it,
all us,
actors.

It's filled with
coincidental
errors
of
monumental
consequence,
and
no consequence at all.

Turn up the sound
I want to hear what they are saying,
Oh crap
not another commercial.
Those bastards are always selling something.

Time for us to find meaning,
in all that we do,
the meaning of the show.
I mean there it is
day after day
and what?

Oh look we are playing our parts so well,
so serious,
such drama,
great one liners
sex
crime
murder
orations galore,
look at those posers
up on the big screen
actors
acting
we believing.

It's a show,
just a show,
it will all be over
one day
and we will have to find a new life
to live
a new person
to be
a new world to fight in.

It's a show that represents
all that we know
believe
hate
feel
think
need
love
and it's brought to you by
shit,
we sell shit,
the best shit in town
better than anyone’s shit.
Buy our shit today!

Listen for your cue
get ready to make your entrance
all eyes are on you as you prance about
the boards
as you go through the motions
as you pretend you are not pretending
marvelous—scene!
That concludes our show for today folks,
author, author,
applause
take your bow
time's up.

Sort:

theatre, interrupted by advertisements, where we all pretend to believe in our roles. You masterfully capture that anguish of searching for meaning amid so much superficiality and “selling crap”. Applause!

P.S. I'm sorry that I have a friend who downvotes everything I comment on. Blessings to him.

Thank you very much @amigoponc
