It’s funny, the assumptions we make as readers. Had I read that poem without having had any interactions with you here, I would have made certain assumptions and guesses at certain meanings, but having had interactions with you here, the way I wanted to read the poem didn’t quite connect to the images I have of you, so the explanation at the end was a big help.
I often like to write in first person while thinking of other people/characters, even in short poems, so I can imagine that it might be confusing trying to make meaning of my poems if you always connect that first person reading to what you know about me.
